Good tip. I had that issue last year too at Akershus, I think. But being the geek that I am, I had all of the reservation numbers on my the chart I carried around the parks.
A print out is a great idea, i will print one out and bring it with me, i wish the WDW dining app for the iphone had a spot for the confirmation numbers, that would be brilliant.
I have had the same thing happen to me a couple of times. Not very often, but just once is too many in my opinion.
I always print out our reservations and paste the numbers to an index card along with other information for that park day. When the CM can't find us in the system, I just hand him/her my card and voila, my "lost" ressie has suddenly been located.
I do this as well and needed to show the proof on our DM. Thankfully I had all my info and they let us in, but somehow the CM on the phone scheduled us for the previous night, to which we already had other ressies.
Here is what I do every time. This would work only if you stay at Disney resort.
Every time when I check-in, I asked the resort front desk to print a copy of all our ADRs. They would print your entire ADRs with no charge. It itemize all your ADRs by day. You will know exactly when is breakfast, lunch and dinner for which date. All confirmation#s are on the output as well.
Having just got back from a Thanksgiving trip, we were told multiple times upon checking into a restaurant at the appointed time that we did not have a reservation. Checks of various lists did not yeild our name. Not until I produced the reservation number did the cast members find our reservation on "another list." There was no pattern to the missing reservations-- some were made months ago and others quite recently. Some were there and some were not. I highlighted and printed mine out (and had done so before the crash, I mean "upgrade." I hope everyone has great food and a great trip!
I agree! Just returned 12/17/10 from a weeks stay. During our week they again were doing upgrades to the reservation system. A couple of times we were told they couldn't find our reservation. I produced my confirmation number and voila! they found our reservation. Had I not carried our confirmation numbers, they would not have seated us. In fact, one cast member argued with my husband that we absolutely did NOT have a reservation...until I produced the number and it came up. Oh...and I made all our reservations through the on-line system, so it was not a case of mispelling or miscommunication. Whatever system you use, carry your confirmation numbers
I was always going to carry the numbers with me anyway, so I always had them, but we were there from the 30th to the 17th, with several TS ADRs, and I didn't have a single problem.
thanks for the reminder. Last year I was there for NYE and they couldn't find our reservation. I nearly flipped out. And it was so loud that calling the ADR number was very difficult. Luckily the CM eventually found our reservation and we were seated.
I came back from our 8 day WDW trip last week, and what I did for each of my ADR`s was print off the page for each reservation off the website, and just trimmed off the extraneous info. That left our name, tel number, confirmation number, time of reservation and the number of people in our party.
Whenever I checked in, I just handed the slip of paper to them at the same time. Never a problem, and many a great big smile from the hectic CM`s in charge!
we went Dec 3-11, 4 ADR's was not showing up when we went to the resturants. One of them was LeCellier and telling me I don't have an ADR's so I gave them my printout and I was sitted but if I have not shown them a printed copy they would have turned me away b/c they did that with the people before us...the CM was telling us that sometimes people claim they have an ADR but don't. The other 3 resturant did not see our name on the list but I didn't need to give them the copy and said we can sit you anyway.

We were there Dec 2-12 and never had an issue with our ADRs, so I guess it was the luck of the draw. However, I had the #'s in my phone, and backup printouts, just in case. Good thing you were prepared!

We always take our conformation numbers but after reading here on the Dis that certain people just go to a restaurant, lie about the conformation and scream at the CM that they DO HAVE a confirmation and then get a table I doubt that this will help. Cheaters get a table and those of us that took the time months in advance to reserve a table have problems. I was really stunned that without any shame some Dis-sers admit doing this.

When we go, we use our Droids to store the information. When I make the ADR's, I have the confirmation e-mail sent to an e-mail address that's also set up on my Droid. So not only do I have it on my computer, I have it on my phone as well. And I will usually create a separate folder and keep all the e-mail confirmations together. This way I can find the e-mail confirmation faster.
As a backup, I forward the confirmation to everyone that goes with us. This way, at least one of us will have the confirmation #.
As additional backup, I also put all the confirmation numbers on my Google calendar, and share the calendar with everyone. This seemed to workout great for us on our last trip.
