I thought it was federal [FDA] law for 'fiber' to be listed in the 'total carbs'. Thus we take the total carbs less the fiber carbs for the net carbs. It seems that is not the case.
I had an EAS AdvantEdge chocolate canned shake (which was delish by the way). They list total carbs as 2 -- fiber as 2 - sugar less than one. Okay -- I thought -- WOW ZERO CARBS! After I was done I was reading the 'small print' on the can. At the bottom of the small print it reads - fiber grams are included in the calorie count but not included in the total carb count.
So it appears that the 'total carb count' should read 4 with fiber being 2 and net being 2!
I wonder how many other places play this game!
