Warning for dog lovers: No Tic Tacs--Xylitol poisoning

Just an FYI if you don't know. The sweetener Xylitol (found in many sugar-free candies, gums and cookies) is toxic to dogs and can be fatal. The link above is to a current news article. It doesn't take much to cause poisoning. So giving your dog a breath mint for his doggie breath isn't a good idea.

Orange Tic Tac do not have xylitol in it....you have to check the ingredients.

Glad to hear orange tic tac's don't have xylitol because my dd's dog loves them! She shakes the container and he goes nuts. She calls it his crack, lol.

Certain types of sugarfree gum also contain xylitol and a few pieces can kill a small dog.

I got sent this warning a couple of weeks ago and I appreciate your sharing it. I won't eat sugar-free snacks or any tic-tacs except orange ones myself (I can't stand the taste of sugar substitutes), but it's a good reminder.
