Be careful when drinking and being near the water. They found someone dead in Seven Seas Lagoon last week. Here is the report.

Jim Solomons, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Department, said divers found the body of Sean Slattery, 36, of Merrimack, New Hampshire, in the Seven Seas Lagoon, the large man-made lake at the center of the resort, early on Friday.

Slattery's wife had reported him missing at the resort on Thursday night and his death was preliminarily being treated as an accidental drowning, Solomons said.

The sheriff's spokesman said Slattery was reported to have been drinking before his disappearance, and may have gotten into an argument.

Actually, the man and woman were having dinner at the GF, they got into an arguement, they split up, and he went out looking for her. She was back in their room at the Polynesian, he went into the water and was found dead. They said that they had been drinking prior to that (I assume at the restaurant).

On Thursday afternoon we took our DD to Tea with Alice at the GF. While there I noticed some cops asking questions about ways people would enter and exit the resort. I figured maybe someone had something stolen. We took the resort launch back to the Polynesian from the GF and I saw an ambulance and some Disney employees standing by the edge of the water. I figured they must have found a body because the ambulance wasn't moving and nobody seemed to be rushing around. My husband and I joked that we would never find out what happened because we thought all accidents at WDW were kept quiet. When we returned to the Polynesian they told everyone waiting for the next launch that the boat services were being suspended for a while. We went over to see if they were renting water mice and that was closed too. The next morning we took the monorail right over that area of the seven seas lagoon and saw a diver in the water and some kind of crime scene type of camper set up. That afternoon while in the Poly pool there were 2 very annoying helicopters hovering above taking some video for that nights news cast. We went back to our room and heard the report of the apparent drowning in the lagoon. When we got home from our trip I saw posted on these boards that there was also a suicide at the Contemporary the same week as the drowning. It is kind of creepy knowing that there were 2 deaths while we were there.

Where was the suicide post-I didn't see that? Not what you expect to see at WDW

Both incidents are very sad... my prayers go out to the families.

WHOA....my family was eating at the concourse steakhouse at the CR at the reported time. Now I know why the monorail stopped running.
Pretty creepy is right.
I prayers go out to the families.

This is a very tragic accident. The area I live in had a great deal of newspaper coverage about this unfortunate accident. This man leaves a wife and 4 kids under the age of 5. He was a school teacher on a family vacation to WDW. Just very sad.
