Just read this on another site.......

As of July 1, it will be an offence to feed pelicans at Florida's docks which will be classed as a low-level misdemeanour and subject to a $500 fine or 60 days in jail.

The ban is aimed primarily at commercial fishing boats throwing scraps overboard when cleaning fish and tour boats trying to encourage wildlife alongside.

As with most wildlife, you should not feed them as it encourages them to associated humans with food and whilst it can be a minor inconvenience with small animals and birds, it is potentially dangerous with larger animals like alligators and bears. Only last month, an 18 year old found out to their cost when they went swimming in a canal and lost an arm to an 11 1/2 foot alligator.

;) I agree do not under any circumstance feed wild animals or birds, especially the birds in theme parks they get really aggressive when the don't get what they want.

Last year at BB we saw a Dad have his entire burger swiped by a bird while his back was turned to get a wet wipe for his son's sticky hands:scared1: Not content with the burger it came back for his fries:scared: The poor chap had to buy a second meal and hide it while he ate. So glad that bird left us alone:scared: Don't even get me thinking about the birds at AK behind Flame Tree BBQ!!

Never eaten there because of the birds. DW has a bird phobia. If you ever here anyone screaming around the parks its probably DW fearing the birds:rotfl2:
I am very lucky and don't have a fear of anything (except DW in a bad mood:rotfl: ) so its so funny to me but she is petrified sometimes.

I did accidently feed a duck once, I was looking into my box of popcorn and I suddenley heard a duck go quack, it made me jump so loosing a bit of the popcorn onto the floor I wonder how long it took the duck how to work that one out!

Bird phobias are more common than you would think;) I'm very wary of the ones at Seaworld they are just outright vicious if you want to feed the seals you'll need 3 packs of fish because the birds will try to snatch the tray full right out of your hand and it hurts:eek: Smaller birds have never been a problem for me but after getting dive-bombed at Whitby by aggressive gulls after my fish I try to give larger birds a wide berth. Those beaks can be really painful.

I must admit it gets my back up when i see people feeding the birds around the parks, especially at Flame Tree BBQ.We love eating there, but with the birds now it is ridiculous.I have a fear of birds as well, and believe me they can be nasty+agressive mainly due to people who feed them.I have seen children quite scared when this happens and even adults.I am all for the fine-it should be higher if you ask me.x.

Agree with wifey, them gulls at seaworld when your trying to feed the dolphins are deadly, they are huge.I remember when dd was 3 and we took her to feed them for the first time-she was a little scared, but agreed she wanted to feed+stroke them.Well when the gulls appeared she was more scared of them and hid on the floor in front of me and never surfaced to feed the dolphins.x.
