I came home this afternoon and checked my messages. There was one from Disney Dining stating that according to my phone number, I have duplicate PS and if I did not call to cancel one, they would cancel both. I thought I canceled all of my duplicates but I missed a breakfast. Anyway, how they found out and why, I don't know but the moral of the story... don't overbook - you might end up with the short end of the stick!!!

Somehow everything is linked by your home phone number. Before we left for our trip my wife made all the PS using her name. A week later I called to change a PS, and they asked my home phone number. Once I gave it to them, they called me by my first name....not my wife's!

I don't know if it was because of my DVC membership, or previous years PS or what, but it was strange!

The phone number linking is why I'm giving home and cell phone numbers. I have to get through this week and see if I get into CRT before I cancel excess PS.

What if you wanted to go to both???

I'm not sure, but I think by duplicate, they probably mean the same restaurant on the same day for the same meal. Or the same meal in two different restaurants on the same day. I don't think they mean the same place on different days. I could be mistaken, but I think it's the same meal on the same day that they consider "duplicate" because it really doesn't make sense to have the same meal reserved on the same day (example...you book 1900 Park Fare as a back-up in case you can't get CRT, then you get CRT for that same meal on the same day...IMO, *THAT* would be a duplicate ressie until one was cancelled. Make sense?)

Yep, I had 2 breakfast seatings at Chef Mickey's - one at 7:30 and one at 9:30 - we were not sure of our itinerary yet.

Now I'm a little concerned too. We have a party of 4, and since we could not get PS for 4 people at Chef Mickey's, we went with 2 PSs for parties of 2, half an hour apart.

kdibattista, did they mention how long they were going to give you to cancel one of the PSs?

Yes, this makes me nervous, too...We have what would appear to be double PS in the computer....for dinner one night we have PS for 2 for 7 pm at California grill and at Coral Reef...but one is for my parents who are travelling with us and one is for us. I made all the arrangements so it's under my phone #. I'd hate for one of these to be cancelled!!

I think it's good that they find double bookings, but sometimes what appears to be a double booking, might be legit -- liek my plans and Disneyrellas!

*sigh*

the message stated that they needed me to call them by the end of the week otherwise they would just cancel. I would not worry too much unless they call you.

kdibattista, you're lucky you got a call. About a year ago (maybe longer), this was a subject of debate on this board. If I recall correctly, three or four weeks out Disney will check for double bookings. If there are two for the same day/same meal, they will automatically cancel the first reservation made assuming you intend to honor the last reservation made. No nice phone call.
