I did try to post this while in DLP, but it does not seem to have managed to post. To start with the warning to people, when we arrived at DLP I opened up handbag and camera bag at the bag check point, then removed my ruck sack for that to be checked and then lifted up the case. We then went to left luggage and left the case and rucksack there. We went straight into the park and by the time we reached the castle my camera had been stolen. The camera bag was diagonally across me and done up. My guess is that it was taken at the bag check, but at City Hall they refused to check the CCTV camera that is based at the bag check right beside where we were. While at City Hall I also heard another English family having a purse returned that had been stolen, it had been found with all the cash removed.

So bad start to the trip, but my insurance company said buy a replacement there - no problem I thought, but then my Nationwide credit card would not work. Phoned Nationwide after trying in the third shop on the second day, but they had not even seen any attempt at a transaction. So, left with limited cash. Not sure if anyone else has had this problem, I will try the card later in England to see it was a problem with the card but it worked fine the day beforehand.

Now to the favour, I was wondering if anyone who went for Halloween had any pictures that they would not mind emailing me could pm me, in order that dd can have some pictures to take to school. Apart from the camera and having to be careful with money we had a really good trip, and I will try to do a trip report over the weekend.

Thank-you very much in advance to anyone who can help out with the pictures.

Sorry to hear you had problems.

As for photos, I wasn't there for the Halloween day itself but I was there a week earlier - if any of the photos I have are any good I'll happily email them to you - there are lots of parade, cavalcade and halloweenland photos:www.rumgone.co.uk/dlrp/halloween2006.html

Sorry to hear about your problem.

Unfortunately DPLR is a target for opportunistic theft as generally people let their guard down when relaxed.

I had my purse stolen last Christmas and the police told me that there are organised gangs at work at peak times.

I would STRONGLY suggest that people wear skin belts for money under their clothes and if you need to take a bag wear it under your coat. Better still get your hubby to wear it under his.

The biggest theft type is from bags in the rear of buggies (particularly the larger nappy/milk type bags.

Sorry I cant help you out with the pictures but thanks for posting your warning. Perhaps it will save someone on this forum experiencing the same.

I'm always a bit particular about security. I usually keep a small amount of cash in my purse with a neck purse tucked under my clothes with most of my cash and any cards.

I am sorry you had this trouble. It is horrid when anything bad happens especially in a place where you expect it to be magical.

Sorry to hear about your problems.

I know from experience that the card machines at DLP don't always work. On my recent trip one of my credit cards worked fine in one shop and then about half an hour later in another shop it wouldn't work and they had to keep trying. In the end I ended up using a different card. Perhaps they should invest in a better system!

So sorry to hear what happened and hope it didn't spoil your holiday too much!
I can't help with your photos but if your DD wants anything bringing back when we go in January, please let us know.

So sorry to hear this. :grouphug: I'm so glad you still managed to have a good time. :)
