Hi all!

I just wanted to inform everyone about an experience I had with the BankOne/Disney Visa card. I applied for one about 7 weeks ago. Approximately 3 weeks into my ap, BankOne sent me a note asking for proof of my address (I just moved to a new city 7 months ago). I sent a utility bill. Several more weeks go by. :scratchin I wondered why it was taking so long to get a response, so I came on here to post the question. After doing a search I found this

thread

Come to find out, BankOne has their "acceptance matrix" that is different than other cc companies (having credit and not using it was one is a no-no for them). I was all of a sudden mad at myself that I didn't see this thread before I applied.

Finally, I called the status hotline and found out that I had been denied. A couple days later I got a letter saying why...they couldn't verify my address or income (I'm self-employed). I'm not at all mad, but I am very confused as to why this happened (at the same time a little relieved!) I know this won't happen to everyone, but I want people to know all they can and make an informed decision. Just b/c the Disney name is on it doesn't make it better than sliced bread.

Thanks for letting me talk...
:D

I had received an Application for the Bank One/Disney Visa right after my trip to Disney World. I have two credit cards already, one is a Bank One (when I applied for it, it was under some other bank, I must have gotten lucky). Anyways, both of the credit cards I have gotten didn't ask for an income (I am a student, haha almost typed stupid ;) ) and I only work 6 hours a week (during the school year, during the summer I have no job). Anyways, I was so excited to see a Disney Visa in my mail, but once I looked over the application, I realized they asked for income. I figured my income wasn't enough to satisfy their needs, so I just threw it out.

Anyways, you kind of answered a bit of my question, I was curious as to how hard it was to get approved for the Bank One/Disney Visa. Because for some reason, I have a feeling you might need it to get the good discounts. If anyone can help me, just reply. Thanks.

Disney Visa have goten 1 good deal last summer. But then it was released to the general public 2 weeks later.

This year if you held your tongue right and were a new applicate you might get an offer for a deal. But was definitely a limited thing.

My take is, that it is better to Favorite www.MouseSavers.com and watch for deals. Mary always has the best deals around listed on this site!!

Hey Beckwhy - You can call Bank One and have your exisisting Bank One card changed to a Bank One Disney Visa - that is what I did - I called the customer service # and asked if I could change my Bank One Mastercard to the Bank One Disney Visa and they said no problem at all - it was pretty easy and didn't take long to get my new Disney Visa.

Yes, you can have a bank one card changed over to a disney bank one card, but if you have any special interest rates on that card, they won't transfer them. I had a 4.99% for the life of my balance on my regular bank one and they would not honor it on the disney visa - so just check your interest rates before you switch over.

Well, thanks... I'll remember that. Currently I don't have any special rates, especially since it's a Student card. My rates are actually sky high. And other than that, I don't spend that much money.

Another question: What are the "benefits" of the Disney Visa?

I applied for a Disney Visa as it was coming out at about the same time the 'Club' was closing. I thought it would be a great way to get Disney Dollars and Disney Discounts. Now that I have the card, I don't think it is a good way to get either. I have been very dissappointed! I would not really recommend getting the card. It does not offer anything that you can't beat by searching around the web!::yes::

I have to say that I LOVE my Disney Visa. So far I've earned 99 DD for my honeymoon trip in 2005.
The thing about this credit card is that if you carry a balance there is no benefit to the card. It will cost you more that you've earned.

Other than that I think its fabulous.

I like mine as well. I converted one of my Bank One cards to the Disney Visa and it arrived within a week or so. I have used it for most of my purchases in the past couple of months and with the double rewards going on now until June 30th I should have about $100 to use on my rewards card when we are at WDW in July.

I tried today to switch a Bank One Rewards card over to Disney and they told me I would have to close the other and reapply. Maybe I should call them again?

Happy Girl, call them again. I did this too. I actually had two bankone cards so I called and asked if i could transfer to a disney card. the girl did it right away, no questions asked. on the old card the apr was 11.9% and the disney one is only like 7% so that was an added bonus. The thing that I didn't expect was that they transferred my balance to a Disney card, but instead of cancelling my old card it is completely active with zero balance. I ended up spending $200 on it while in Disney last week,,,which is what I was afraid of, but i'm not gonna beat myself up over it. They should defintely do it for ya!

Hi! I was just curious about this post since I work for Bank One as a phone advisor ;) ), I thought I could probably help, as far as changing to the disney card from any other bank one card that is true, however there are some qualifications that need to be met, for one the account has to be up to date as far as payments and not over the credit line. The original account also can't have an apr higher than 18 % (which an advisor can see if a lower apr is available if yours happens to be over the 18 %) other than that anyone can switch into any type of Bank One account. If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to help. :wave2:

Hi,
Not to put you on the spot, but can you shed any light on the matter of some DV cardholders being offered a double rewards bonus on all purchases over "X" amount in charges and others not receiving such offer?

Hi! To help u with your question I just want to make sure I understand it :D so your referring to the bonuses offered at certain times for DV and why it is offered on only some accounts? I just want to make sure I'm clear :p . If yes than I can tell you that it is marketed differently for each account, as an example, if a cardholder doesn't use their credit card often then the bank may give them an 'incentive' to use the credit card, such as bonuses. This may not always be the case, it's just based on what the marketing department is offering and to which accounts. I hope this helps, if you need anything else please don't hesitate to ask! :)

Just be aware that the "double" rewards will not be applied until 6-8 weeks after the billing cycle in which the purchases were made.

In other words, if you make purchases in March, you'll only see the usual 1% reward in your account when the bill comes in April. The bonus 1% will be applied 6-8 weeks later, in June. Purchases from April will have their bonus applied in July, and May's purchases will get their bonus awards in August.

At least that's what the fine print on my offer says. I got the "groceries, insurance, gasoline" bonus offer.

I think it is great that Elizatish is willing to help and answer questions....THANK YOU!

My $0.02: I think DV would benefit from offering all card members the same Disney offers!

I applied for the DV as I was hoping the special offers would make up for the Disney Club closing. It has not. I guess I must use my card too much because, other than a coupon in my billing envelope, I don't seem to get ANY specials!

Elizatish, thanks very much for your response! You're correct that it is a promo to stimulate usage, but as you can read in the following posts, there is an illogical manner in who actually received the double rewards. Many heavy users reported getting the offer, some with higher reward threasholds, some not. Many cardholders who don't use their cards frequently didn't receive the offer.

Thanks again, and FWIW, I sent Bank One a copy of these threads and a couple of others, and NEVER heard back.

Hi mtblujeans! I agree that Bank One should have the same offers on every account. I also agree that the DV would be great if it had the same offers as Disney Club. I miss the club :( , but with the DV the bank will probably refine the program to have better rewards and promotions, at least I'm hoping they will! :p

As far as me saying that not using the credit card and then getting incentive to use it, I guess I didn't sound right because I meant that as just an example, there are a lot of different reasons one account will have promotions and others won't. Not only your usage (or lack of) will cause you to not get promotions. Sorry for my previous message sounding as if that was the ONLY way to get the promotions. My mistake,

DisneyBill, I read the threads that you sent to Bank One, I was surprized people thought the card was a 'joke', I agree it does need some tweaking but it's a free card (no annual fee) and people get a bonus. I guess I just look at differently. I know that wasn't necessarily your opinion just thought it was interesting to see what people thought. Thanks for the info.

I read people saying they were upset with not recieving the bonuses too. I work for the bank and I don't even get some of the promotions! :p But my opinion on people being upset with the DV, most (if not all) can switch to Bank One's cash back credit card (it's 1% back) just as an FYI or any Bank One credit card.

Sorry this was so long, I just wanted to give my opinion! :wave2:

I like my disney visa card so far.

I orignally got it to take advantage of the 7 nights for the price of 4 deal.. However I wasn't able to since we can only go the last week of april and the deal didn't take effect till may 1st.
That really bummed me out that they wouldn't be a bit flexible.

I did understand that rules are rules so I didn't let it bother me to much.
In the past 2 months of having the card we've made 3 major purchases. I had the money for it so just used the card then paid the balance off right away. I now have about 89.00 free disney dollars for nothing.

I know its not a lot but it's still something for free. Plus it will come in handy when its time to buy souvineers for the kids.

Hey there - I guess we'll be "co-workers" soon - I work for JP Morgan Chase in Delaware! That is if my job makes it through the merger!!
