I received my Disney Visa last week...it is my 3rd card with BankOne/FirstUSA. I called to activate right away, and then finally used it for the first time yesterday. I placed an order with the Disney Store online and MouseShoppe, and also paid for my new auto license tags. I got a call from FirstUSA today...they rejected all my charges!!!! Their reason: "It is a new account, and they were not familiar with my online (or any) purchasing habits", so they thought it best to reject them, and call me!!!
I haven't heard from the shops or MVD yet as to what happens now, I did e-mail them. How stupid is this, though? If they had any way to link me to my other cards with them, they would know that I charge online, and a lot of it is Disney stuff. I have never had this happen before. Just wanted to give everyone fair warning.

I'm really surprised they did that to you. We've had a BP Visa with them for years - always thought they were wonderful. I guess all good things come to an end. I've only used our new card at 2 Retail stores so far (the first being the Disney Store, of course!). No problems yet. Did you talk to a supervisor? Can't believe they'd just say "tough luck and that's that"??

They told me to contact the companies that I had placed orders with and to tell them to run it through again. Sure enough, they had been denied. AND when we tried to run it through again, they were denied AGAIN! My next call will be back with BankOne again. I was also told that this had happened to another customer on Friday, so it's not just me, and it's definitely not my credit.

I can definitely understand your frustration. You should "put it in writing" - they owe it to you to "make it right". I was just reading on another thread: there also seems to be some frustration as to where the Disney $ can be redeemed. Evidently not on the DCL. Although my Disney Club card is good until 12/31/03, I'm already missing the Disney Club like crazy!!

All credit card companies have a fraud department, and when they see many charges made in a single day, especially online charges they typically will call the cardholder. I am surprised they didn't call to verify this with you first, prior to declining these charges. I think this could be a good thing, especially if someone stole your card, etc.

Also - this credit card is so new, and we all know how new things at Disney take time to evolve. This is what I found in an article about the new card and the reward points-

"Starting in October 2003, when cardmembers are ready to redeem their rewards, they can call the bank, which will send them a separate card with all or a portion of their Disney Dream Reward Dollars."

So - if they are not looking at card holders to be able to redeem their reward dollars until October 2003, then all the information may not be out to DCL or Disney Store, etc. I think maybe give them a few weeks to get everything sorted out.

Ok, that is weird. Having been in retail for years and one who tends to use cards in spurts I know that credit card companies will call to verify charges that are unusual or out of the norm. But they won't generally deny them right off like that.
