Warning about bad trade

I apologize to the mods if this is against rules.

Today I met a player named name removedwho offered to trade me his mansion clock for 60 ice. We then proceeded to make the trade in 4 increments of 15 as the game allows. On the last load he was to give me the clock, but on load 3 he disappeared. Usually i wouldn't fall for this but he had been on my friends list for quite awhile.
I waited for him to return as i suspected he had dc. He appeared saying that was the case, but then took me off his friends list and booted me. I am now without my 45 ice chairs and do not have the clock either. I have reported him to VMK but we will see how it goes.

I think that's just disgusting and is so infuriating!! Especially since he has been on your friends list for a while. I am so sorry this happened . It's people like him that need to be banned...not innocent parties like the 9 yr old boy.

a simular thing happened to my sister once.She traded her cow boy suit parts(the ones she had)for a space suit bc the boy wanted to orrow the suit and he had been on her list for a long time.And before that he asked "we have known each other for a long time and i think ur cute.will u be my girl?"I warned my sister but sadly i made a mistake of letting her do the trade bc i thought they were actually friedns for a long time.Then the oldest trick in the young book of vmk,boot our of room and delete out of friends list.she got over it though.

I thin k if someone CLEARLY is cheating other honest players, others should know who it is. I'm not trying to start trouble, just warn others to take care when making deals with him. Honestly i think there should be alist of names of ppl we come across that cheat others. That way we could all band together and ignore them not to mention wanr others. I look at it more as a way to protect innocent kids.
I had one today trying to convince me he had Inferno for trade, BUT it appeared as Ned's pin due to a glitch with his computer. GIVE ME A BREAK! At least it was an original scam, but I would hate to see a little kid lose something good to him.

Well I think the reason the are going to remove his name is because we are only hearing your side of the story. My sister recently got "semi-scammed" and got 2 teleporters that didn't work. A community leader contacted the "scammer" on the forums and the "scammer"'s brother sent a reply apologizing for the mix up and traded my sister some actual paired teleporters.

And I think having a list of scammers is HARSH! Some of these scammers are just kids and to demean their reputation by putting them on a list seems really mean. To be respectful you shouldn't call out people on the boards.

DementedRiku is correct but there are many many more reasons also that we can not allow posting of names. You are more than welcome to share the name with your friends you just can not post it on the boards.

I honestly don't see how that can be harsh. If you steal from someone you're a thief. Only exceptions I know of occur in real life. In a game like this ppl have a general idea of the value of the items. So when he asked for sixty ice chairs, he said he wanted "for loads". 15 items at a time sets alot of ppl up for a bad trade. I did report it to VMK and have received a basic letter that they are looking into the matter.
While I dont think I'll actually get my chairs back, I think he needs bannned. I think cheating in a trade is worse than reasons some ppl have been banned in past. I'm not just mad for me, but really looking out for kids.
Welll over half the friends on my list in VMK will pm me to ask if they are getting cheated in a trade; in other words to find out if the item is retired or truly rare. Ususally I just tell them if they feel it is a fair trade and they get what they want, then to go ahead. I dont know how you can tell kids that they cant trust some of the friends on their lists.

I think I should put on my wish list "the power to ban ppl".

I'm usually a very happy-go-lucky person. My friends tease me that I wear my superman cape far too often, but I can't help it. I dont like seeing ppl intentionally hurting/cheating other ppl. I'm an adult and am pretty much over the whole thing chalking it up as stupidity. I'm not sure how his side of the story would go as there was no mistake made in this situation. I know many mistakes are made with teleporters, but this is different.
I guess this incident added to my anger from a previous trade on here with someone who will not follow through with his side of our bargain. He got the room code, has offered it in other trades on here, but ignores my pm's and pretends like he has computer problems. The sad part is that he put in his initial post that he wanted the code first because he has been scammed too many times. So while I want be seeing that Snowman pin he offered in exchange, I feel sorry for the person that wins his code in trade. He forgot I still had the code and since all this, I have cashed it in.

I am not saying that this is the case in your situation but anyone could come on the boards and report that they have been scammed in a trade with Mr.X when in fact they were not...we have no way of knowing if MrX is telling us the truth or the poster is telling the truth...


That basically in a nutshell is why we do not allow the names of bad traders to be posted.


I am sorry this happened to you but that is the best I can offer. Hopefully VMK will take care of it.
