I haven't been on the Warner Brothers lot but that is basically a studio tour. That's it.

Universal includes the Studio Tour as part of their theme park admission. The backlot tour is great and is a ride in and of itself. In addition to showing you interesting backlot stuff they have little "events" that occur along the way to entertain you. Universal Studios is really an all day thing and they even have Universal City Walk which is a large outdoor mall. I haven't been there in a few years now and they've added a couple of things but it really hasn't changed a lot. Rides, several live shows and some special effects stage demonstrations that are pretty cool.

I am not sure what you mean by "west coast feel" but if you aren't really interested in the theme park you probably want to do the Warner Brothers thing and then spend some time in Hollywood. See the stars along Hollywood Blvd and maybe take a tour. Check out this thread for a couple of ideas along those lines.
