OK - so I have read several posts in the past from expectant mothers asking what it would be like to go to Disney in the hot hot months or just pregnant in general.... Tonight I skimmed through and didn't see any fresh threads, so I am making my own offering a little insight to what I just experienced....
Well, Granted it wasn't Disney and it wasn't Orlando, or Florida for that matter, but I think the heat we have all been experiencing of late is pretty similar!
My family and I just returned from a week long trip to Mexico. I am 7 months pregnant and was completely miserable in the heat and humidity! All I can say is for once in my life, I was glad I was not at WDW!!
THANK GOD for the pool and A/C! I had to only walk around a little bit or the little walking that I did do, and it was very little ... I was junk! I spent 1/2 the day in the pool and the other 1/2 in the hotel room in the a/c. I was very careful to stay hydrated and keep my core body temperature at a reasonable leval. I was only in the sun for a few hours at a time and when at the pool, I was either in it or under an umbrella.
I am not quite sure if that could have been done while walking the parks at Disney... We went to the ruins one day and it was torture. I was never so glad to get a thumderstorm in all my life! A day at the MK or MGM would have been hell. especially with (a) small children that expect you to keep up and keep your endurace as well as your regular pace!
Granted the humidity levals have been extrememly high and abnormal all around the country and Mexico, but it was still rough. The flying wasn't so bad, minor pressure on landing and take off, but nothing I wasn;t prepared for. I drank plenty and moved when I was able. My doctor gave me a clean bill of healthy and "let me go".
Anyway - I don't want to freak anyone out or scare them away during their expectant days, but if it can be avoided, I would certainly rescheule. I know I would want my Disney experience to be the best it could be. And feel like i was able to get all my moneys worth and experince all there was/is to experience. Ride the rides, and drink the drinks...
Just my 2 cents - Thanks for reading! I hope this was helpful to someone out there - any and all feedback welcome and encouraged!!
