hi all i am going with the family in 4 weeks and am wondering is it worth booking for the disney waterparks, wet and wild etc as im not sure if its warm enough at that time of year?
Water temps are probably much the same year round. The air temperature could be chilly - but may still be warmer than anywhere you'd swim outdoors in the UK!
Temperaures in January can vary a lot from one week to the next, so I'd suggest you wait and see what it's like when you get there. If you can be flexible with your plans you could keep an eye on the weather and pick your water park day if it looks good
As someone has already stated, the weather at this time of year is rather changeable. Our last 2 trips have been in December. The first included some very very cold moments (usually waiting for evening events to start). The last trip was much warmer.
You could easily go from shorts to sweaters from one day to the next. Makes packing rather interesting!!
I hope you have a wonderful time. And let us know if you went to a water park as I'd be interested to know how it is at that time of year.
Hiya I am too going in january, i go in a fortnight (too excited) anyway, cold or not DH and i plan to spend a day at a waterpark, and a day at Discovery Cove, and 'we will enjoy it!' we are british after all. Hope you have a great time, we intend to whatever the weather
Ali
The water is warm enough (as it is heated) but the air in January is quite cold on wet bodies as you go from one slide or attraction to another. If there are queues it will be pretty chilly while you wait for your turn.
You are wise waiting until you get there to see what temps are, then upgrading your pass if it's warm enough, or getting a single-day water park pass.
We swam in the Dolphin pool last December. It was fine as long as you kept your shoulders below the water LOL
It was a bit chilly when we got out of the pool though.
THE WATER IS WARM..BUT THE AIR IS COOL ....ITS BEST TO SWIM AROUND NOON but you nwill need jackets in the morning and for sure in the evening..so donnt for get to bring some...
I'm with Ali on this one. We WILL do the waterparks at some stage in the holiday (we leave in two weeks - I'm so close to my single digit dance, I might burst) - it'll just be a case of choosing the warmest days of the trip
I got back yesterday and the weather was very warm (80s) and it was definately warm enough to swim. We swam every day and even with loads of suntan lotion I still got a bit burnt a few times. Hopefully the weather will not change too much in the next few weeks and you will have a lovely sunny time!
i'm hoping the weather will stay as it is for when we go but i'm sure that we will have a great time whatever the weather is at the moment whoo hoo 18 days to go i can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
