Saturday 19th August

We had decided to go into Paris today so after an early breakfast we queued to buy tickets for the RER. The desk clerk was very helpful and the queue to buy tickets wasn’t too bad however I would suggest buying them the night before if possible to save time.

The train journey was very easy and before we knew it we were at Auber Station. We exited and across the road to the right is L’OpenTour bus head office. We bought our tickets and came straight out and hopped on a bus. After perusing our leaflets we realised that we should have checked what colour card the bus driver was displaying in his window….. Too late  the bus set off and we soon realised by the route he took that we were on a yellow route…..when we wanted to be on a green bus which is the main tourist route! :rotfl: Never mind, we got to see Montmartre and a glimpse of Sacre Coeur through gaps in the streets. :) When the yellow bus returned we hopped on the next green one to come along. Francesca was delighted as this bus had DLRP advertising on the back so she called it the Disney bus. The bus slowed down at the Louvre, Notre Dame, Place de la Concorde and Arc de Triomphe so there was chance to take photos and the English headphone commentary was surprisingly good.

We alighted at the Eiffel Tower and expected to have to queue for ages but it actually moved very quickly. We bought a snack to eat in the queue and timed that we were at the very top of the Tower exactly 1 ½ hours after arriving.

What can I say?? The views were absolutely breathtaking. I am not the best person with heights but I felt totally safe up there. We went down to the 2nd floor where the views were still outstanding. Then we walked down the steps to the ground.

The weather had been a little unpredictable all day ~ it had been mainly warm sunshine with just a few raindrops but now the sky was getting darker and darker so we decided to get the bus back to the station before we missed the last one. We hopped on the next bus to come along and saw the Hotel des Invalides with its beautiful golden dome. Then we caught the train back to Disney ~ it really is as easy as it sounds. :goodvibes

We had decided to try the Rainforest Café tonight. We have enjoyed eating at the Rainforest in Animal Kingdom at WDW and the one in London so were looking forward to eating here. We were seated within 5 minutes but had to wait quite a long time to be served. Never mind, at least we were sat down. Bryan, Samantha and I all had Rio's Salad Trio. This is a trio of salads in tortilla shells: Caesar salad, River wild and Volcanic Cobb salad. It was very nice but rather too large a portion and none of us managed to finish it.

Danielle had cheeseburger and fries and Francesca had chicken nuggets and fries. They both had Smarties pop-up ice-creams for dessert whereas Bryan, Samantha and I had Paradise Lemon Twist, which is lemon meringue pie. We had cocktails which were nice but I can’t remember which ones they were. Must have had too many! :drinking1 :drinking1

The food was nice but the service was very lacking and I think this does have a big effect on how you review a meal. Although in all fairness it was very busy and the staff did seem rushed off their feet. I always love the theming of the Rainforests but don’t think I would hurry back to this one again.

Another great report.
The troops love RFC but I agree the lack of service dampens my spirt somewhat :confused3

Lovely photos Elaine, I think when Liam's a little older we'll take a day out to go into Paris.:)

After last year's visit when DS was ill, I don't think I'll ever show my face in the RFC again and Liam certainly won't go in there, but I agree the meals are far too big anyway. :)

Fab report, I agree about the RFC me and DBF are not to keen on it, however DD loves it because of the themeing.
