Wanting to try new restuarants but reviews have you nervous?

We are trying a whole bunch of new restaurants this trip. Some have gotten not so great reviews, others have gotten good ones. Hopefully it will all turn out good. Either way we'll be trying the restaurants ourselves and making our own judgments about them.

I say if the menu looks appealing, give the restaurant a try...or a second try. We went to flying fish 2 yrs ago and hated it...then we gave it a second shot this past October and it was our fav restaurant of the whole trip.
