Wanting to surprise DH with HHI golf lessons for birthday...

Is there anyone that can give me any opinions on courses to go to for private golf lessons?

We'll be at HH for Thanksgiving and DHs birthday is the day after. I'd like to surprise him with a golf lesson and am looking for some feedback.

I found this site http://www.islandgolfschools.com/dailyschools.php
and am looking at the Full Day instruction which runs $245 for the Golden Bear Golf Club & $275 for Daufuskie Island Club. It seems pricy but he's worth it!

I wonder how these courses compare? Anyone with playing experience at either or both that can give feedback or suggestions? Or any reviews of private lessons you've taken while at HHI would be much appreciated!

DH is a BIG golfer! He hasn't played Dafuskie Island yet, but Golden Bear wasn't his favorite course, by any means. Did you try anything over in Hilton Head Plantation or Port Royal area? BTW, see ya at HHI for Thanksgiving, and your birthday present is sure to be a big hit!

Have you tried the pro shop right there at Palmetto Dunes? I bet they give lessons. Your DH is a mighty lucky man.

DH and DS took lessons at the Shipyard course one year and thought it was worthwhile...

BTW, they play Golden Bear almost every time we're there. I think Simba's Mom's DH must have been there on a bad day.

I appreciate your responses. Having never been to HH I really have no idea which courses are closer to the resort.

WolfpackFan--I looked into lessons at PD and they also have golf clinics for up to 6 participants. Since I really know nothing about the game I was wondering how much of a difference it would make to take private lessons vs. instruction with a group of 6 or less. Which would you rather do?

Simba's Mom--I can't wait for our trip to HH! It will be our first DVC trip ever and my kids first trip to the beach. I know they are going to love it! Maybe we'll see you there.
