HELLO

we went to the luau on sat at 6:00 pm, we had made reservations about 3 weeks ago- (they also have fri luau's now)

i had purchased the 2 for 1 gift certificates so instead of paying $230 for the 5 of us, i only paid $130. childs fee is $30- i think my son ate .30 cents worth of food:rolleyes: -

kids choices were, pizza, chicken fingers, peanut butter and jelly

adults had roast pig, fresh fruit, ribs, (not the normal pork ribs, these were round) coconut rice, chicken in sauce, different tropical choices, biscuits..... desert was pinapple upside down cake and a variety of cream pies.... (too much to remember)

when you first entered a lei was placed on your neck (not real) you checked in at a stand and paid then got back in line- they led you to a table that seats 10- so be prepared to sit with others- i really don't mind sitting with strangers but this guy sitting with us just wouldn't stop talking to my husband- i just couldn't get a word in:eek: (but he was very nice)

you were then given mai tai's - they failed to mention that beer and wine were included and would have been happy giving you all the watered down mai tai's you wanted
they also have non alcoholic mai tai's but the pitchers wern't labled- my daughter (16.5 yrs) ended up with 2 mai tai's that had alcohol- but of course she neglected to mention this till she had drank it all down:mad:

you were told to help yourself to the buffet whenever you were ready- a hawaiian band played while you were eating- the buffet was open till the entertainment started (after 7:00 pm) you were welcome to go back and get as much as you wanted

to be honest with you i really didn't care for the food- it just didn't have any flavor- the teens liked the chicken fingers better then anything else

around 7:15 pm the entertainment started- there were 4 luau girls doing different island dances, and an island man dancing with fire- the girls picked members of the audience to participate and my son was chosen- he had to dance with one of the luau girls (poor kid:p ) i'm sure he enjoyed this (being a 17 yr old boy)

the whole thing ended around 8:15pm- you were able to get pics with the performers if you chose to
no one in my family cared for the food and my 5 yr old fell asleep

i don't feel too put out as i got the 1/2 price certificates- but i would never pay the full price of $50.00 per adult and $30.00 for kids- i did make 2 reservations so i used one certificate for my husband and I- and my son used the other certificate for himself and sister (only one certificate per check)

if you have any questions i will do my best to answer- i don't want to give the impression that i disliked the luau but i just didn't feel it was worth $50.00 per person- just my humble opinion:wave:

Great report. Thanks for sharing. Still can't see pics with the link....:(

Thanks for sharing! I have debated and debated about going to to the Luau and it sounds like my family would be like yours and not have much they liked to eat. My kids would be like your son and eat very little. I love your photos! Your older son looks like he was having a good time!

Cool photos Bratray!!!:smooth: .........I was just wondering where did you purchase the certificates for the dinner luau at? Because me and my family will be going in September and that will save us some money.........Also does anyone you know what happens if it rains on the night of the luau? Thank You:bounce: :bounce:

Thanks for taking the time to post your review. We'll be there in July and I didn't know whether to make one ressie or two for the 4 of us. I had also bought 2 of the $50 GCs. Like you, I don't think that I would have spent the full price of $50 each to do the luau, but at ½-price, it seemed worth a try.

I couldn't get the pictures to work. It does seem like you had a great time though.
