The other day my daughter was sitting and looking through all of my scrapbooks that I have done (well the ones that I did for our house and not given away as gifts!) So, I sat with her for a bit and looked too. I know all things get better with practice, but never compared the first page I did to now...well a pretty big difference! LOL I started scrapping after having my 3rd baby. He was about 3 months old or so. So, that puts me at almost 8 years in. What I think it would be fun to do is post our first pages (or as close as we can find to the first) and our most current. Then, we can see the differences, compare, contrast, see our improvements, how our styles and like/dislikes changed! Could be a lot of fun! I have to go and take a picture of each of mine...then I'll post. Feel free to post any of yours in the meantime! Can't wait to see how far we've come! Also, maybe you started traditional and went digital or vise versa...that's good too!!

cute idea Erin!!

here's mine....

first page I ever scrapped was my pregnancy page...my tummy at 4 weeks preggers, the sign and ticket from the KC Royals vs Seattle Mariners baseball game where we got on the big TV to annouce to our families back in WA (we were living outside of KC at the time

last page I scrapped was yesterday, Megan's 12th bday!

know I have come a LONG way from where I started, have so many more tools, cricut and knowledge from when I started! also only had 8 1/2 x 11 way back then!

can't wait to see everyone elses work

this there a program besides photobucket that works here??? my photobucket acct had too many hits on it this month so pics aren't showing up right now - they will on the First

I love this idea! I'll go dig up my first book- I believe it was my high school grad book. should be entertaining.

Lisa, I see a big difference in your scrapping! Such brighter, bolder colors! (random fact for you- I just used that same polka dotted paper yesterday) Looks like you are layering more patterns now.

I also love how the pages relate- happy coincidence!

Love it! Thanks for playing! I definitely think we will all see a huge difference!

Haha that was all we had back then. The selection in1999 was awful!!! and only 8 1/2x 11.

I will have to go pull DD#1's book and get some pics. :)

the first page washed out in the photo, it is pastels though....I'm definately not as afraid to use the patterns with each other...think my only tools at the time we the deco scissors, did get the CM circle/oval cutters and small trimmer for my bday that year

Ok...so here are mine...

When Logan was a couple of months old...

scrappages001.jpg

Then, in 2008...that's when the picture was taken...was scrapped very recently! LOL Shows how backed up I can be! Although I do not scrap in chronological order...I scrap what interests me at the moment!

It's a 2-page layout, so here's each page, then together...8 years ago I never would have attempted a 2-page layout!

I definitely have changed for the better!! I use more paper...no longer afraid of patterns, do 2-page layouts, experiment with techniques, etc. I stitched on this page, used chalk, ink, patterns...

cute Erin....I think the industry has helped us get better too....I took the SDU class back in 2005 and learned a lot through that, I started branching out and trying new things then

Looking back to 2004, I think the selection wasn't great either! LOL My how far we have come! Can't wait to see your pages!

Haha!! When I think back to the tools I had (and felt like I was rich with scrappy supplies)!! If I only knew back then! Although, I still have my dinosaur Sizzix...something will not lallow me to part ways with that baby!! It'll go in an antique shop one day!! But, yeah I used to be able to actually tote ALL my supplies to a crop! Now, I need the crop to come here!!

Thanks!! Oh I definitely agree...they have made huge advancements that have given all of us the push!! I always see something new that I have to have or am absolutely in love with! Oh to be a millionaire!!! (I probably wouldn't scrap then though!!)

here's the title page from my first scrapbook from 2001 next to the title page that I just finished yesterday for my May 2011 trip with DH to DW

Here's a two page layout from my first book: construction paper, pen right on the pages, and really old stickers that my sister had given me...

I think it's the only one! They were/probably still are pretty well known in the sports world...not that I paid attention! ha

ha those bangs- i was teased often by friends who thought i spent time making them look like that but nope, i just combed them down right out of the shower and they sat like that. every. single. day.

I was always afraid of patterned paper before-the boards have helped a ton with that!

OK these will show up on Sunday
this is the first page I did
I started digital

ah, you're just a kid! Megan just made the cusp then, she was born in 2000!

well then I'm REALLY Old :rotfl2: Megan used to ask me if I was alive in the old 80's, she meant the 1980's :rotfl2: when she got her yearbook Monday, she said "bet when I have kids they will wonder what I was thinking about my hair, clothes, etc." I said yup, just like you do for me :lmao:

I can not believe I am posting these! I am doing it only to show growth. OK-and it is pretty funny. My poor DD1. I started scrapbooking about 13 years ago when I was pregnant with her. What did make me sad was how yellowed the book is already when I went to pull it out. It was supposedly acid free and advertised that it wouldn't yellow. I guess I need to get a new album now :sad2:

The opening page to her album :scared1:

Her 2nd and 3rd page. Is this a two page layout-who knows?? Handwritten titles, hand cut-out shapes :scared1:
