Want to Remote-Start Your Toyota With a Fob? That'll be $8 Per Month

I know car prices have gone nuts, but I hope you can still buy a Camry for less than $30,000! Mine is a hybrid, so a few thousand more than a gas Camry, and it was under $30k in July 2020 when I bought it new.
According to Toyota's website you can. the LE, LE Hybrid, SE, SE Hybrid, SE Nightshade, and SE Nightshade Hybrids are all listed at a starting MSRP of <$30k. The XSE, XLE and their associated hybrids are <$35K.

I did have to put in my zip code before it would give me prices, so YMMV (pun intended).

Many are selling for above MSRP that's the point. Deals are also not as common.

Like I said, "According to Toyota's website", and "your mileage may vary". So, if someone wants to go to a Toyota dealer and say "I read on a Disney message board I could get a Camry for less than $30k", more power to them. I think you probably CAN get a Camry (possibly a Hybrid) for <$30k. You just may need to work a little bit, or wait a little bit.

Except at the San Francisco Toyota dealer that had a RAV4 listed for $30,000 over MSRP.

Um, $30K was not the point of the post. My point stands even if (gasp!) we are talking about $20K.

The pedentic stuff that goes on in some of these threads is just mind boggling.

Interesting. I have a 2018 Toyota Sienna, and I don't have remote start on the key fob. It's not something I'd use or pay for, anyway. It doesn't get cold enough to matter where I live, at least not more than a few days a year. And I have a sun roof, which is great on the hot days--turn on the A/C, it pushes the hot air right out the top.

Now, back when I lived in the Adirondacks, remote start would have been a Godsend. We had an attached garage, so running out to start my car wasn't a huge deal. But man--Lilsia wasn't kidding about snow and sleet! I've had times when I had to chisel through a solid inch of ice to get down to my windshield. We would get 7 feet of snow a year, on average. The sleet was actually worse to our south--we would be so cold we'd get straight snow, but the poor schlubs in Albany or Schenectady (or me--I worked in Schenectady for years) would get the icy stuff. PITA to drive through, too, but first, you have to clear off the car!

As a poor schlub just south of Albany, yes! Ice on the car is no joke! But then again it's hot here too... I use my remote start winter & summer! It is very rewarding, though, to be able to slide huge sheets of ice off your car 😆

Watching that sheet of ice slide off the car before getting in and driving sure beats those who don't start their car so that sheet of ice eventually lifts off at speed and smashes onto the car behind. I've had it happen to me, it's quite surprising to see a solid 4 foot square of sheet ice land on your own windshield that you cleared off earlier by starting and warming up your car.

Which has nothing to do with the fact that it still boggles the mind.

Carry on.

Next time you have a conversation with someone (at work, party, whatever), after about 10-15 minutes, figure out if what you're talking about is the same thing you started talking about.

Oh, it's not about the fact that the conversation meanders. It's the pedantic nature of that meandering.
