I would like to plan a 2 week trip to WDW in September. Now, depending on cost it will either be this year or next year. What I wpuld like to know is-should I go through a travel agent or should I do this all on my own?
I want to try some nice places to eat and prefer to stay at a Deluxe or Home away from home resort. I know this will be costly so I will have to pay for the room as I go. Am I making any sense?
Any opinons on where to stay, what to eat and how to make sure I get the trip I am looking for is greatly appreciated.

BTW-I hope I posted this on the right board.

THANK YOU!

Get ahold of a travel agent, and give her dates and what you want to do. Once you get that quote from her, check online at mousesavers, allearsnet, and here to find out how you can lower those prices. Usually speaking, people can book lower rates than a travel agent can. You could book with Disney right now, and get a room only rate...hope for a code, and save money etc.. You said 2 weeks, so I'm wondering if you are looking for 14 days in the parks? Then I'd go for an AP....APs will/can allow you better rates on room only reservations... They are not guaranteed but if/when they do come out, they are a big savings over rack rate.

As for meals- check out allearsnet they have menu's and pricings for everywhere..You can then decide if you should go with vouchers or not.

If your not planning on doing the parks for at least 8 days, then a PHP will be better for you. The break even point for an AP is 8 days.

Good luck- keep asking questions here, you'll get some great answers from those who know what they're talking about...then some like me, that just rememeber what others have said LOL

September is the perfect month to go! My DH and I have celebrated our anniversary in WDW the past two Septembers. My suggestion would be to go through Dreams Unlimited here on these Boards - they can give you a price quote, book your reservation for you, and then when discounts/codes start showing up, they will apply them to your reservation without your even having to ask!!! How great is that?!!!

I second the vote on Dreams Unlimited. Not only will they book your trip for you....at discounted rates if some come available when you're traveling, and they WILL coz AWESOME FL resident rates are usually ALWAYS available, they will make your PS ressies for you too! How cool is that? No long distance phone calls for you. (I noticed you're a FL resident so that's why I mentioned FL resident codes)
Visit the link I left you below to put a quote in for Dreams Unlimited. You pay nothing til you're ready. There's a spot on the ressie to ask for an agent, it's where you have to list the names of everyone traveling in your party...put CATHY MILLER there! I've worked with her and she's awesome! Quick to respond to emails and just a SUPER agent!
You have fun planning your trip!

DREAMS UNLIMITED

From the link you just choose what type of ressie you're looking for...room only, package, what have you.

If you want home away from home, I would try to rent points from a DVC member. You could get a great resort for very little money, comparatively. Try the DVC rent/trade board. There is a calculator there to show how many points you would need for your stay. Early September would require fewer points, so you may get a good deal. As for romantic dinners, I recommend Jiko at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Good luck!
