Scotty, one of the piano players at Jellyrolls told me that Ray, one of the other piano players posts the schedule for who will be playing there each night on the web, so I thought I'd share the information with my DIS friends. The website address is:

http://www.thepianomen.com/gpage1.html

Scotty said that the schedule is usually posted about a two weeks in advance. So, now, you can check out the schedule before you leave for your trip, and go see my favorites Scotty and Ray :) And if you see Scotty bouncing around the bar, make sure you stop him, and tell him Karen from Boston says hello!

Thanks so much for this post! Just my DH and I are going in Sept for our Anniversary and I wanted to see them play, as I have read so many good things about them. This helps tremendously in my planning!

Thanks Karen. Hopefully, George and I will be able to check them out in August. We'll have to get rid of Katie for the evening though. Too bad, she would have loved Jellyrolls.

Hi, we are going to disney in three weeks time, this time with my inlaws- I have been dying to try jellyrolls for as long as I've heard about it- this kind of thing is right up my alley- we don't have a piano bar like that where I live. Can you go with kids? Or is it an adult only type of thing- what can I expect, is it the kind of thing where you are able to sit for a few hours or are you expected to have a drink and move on? Sorry for all the questions but this is the first time I see a post about jellyrolls- everyone I talk to about disney doesn't seem to know about this place, but since I am an obsessive planner I 'discovered' that there is a piano bar! I'm soo excited I can't wait. Thanks for any advice or tips you have!

I'm happy to answer all your questions, Marli. I love Jellyrolls, and love talking about it, as many folks around here will attest to.

Jellyrolls is 21 plus, so kids can't go in. I've seen many families turned away at the door.

I think Jellyrolls is best experienced when you stay for at least two hours. I've gone and stayed the entire night many times. I think that it's best when you can stay for a couple of hours so that you can see both sets of players who are performing that night, as they alternate hours. It's really a lot of fun.

It's also the type of place where you can go and stay just for a drink too, though. You can have fun for a short time, or stay the night. I think you need to stay for a while to truly appreciate it.

Hi karen,
I've been to a similar type place once a long time ago in vancouver- I have to say that we had an absolute blast, and ended up singing ourselves hoarse. I'm so excited that we'll be able to go again- since my in-laws can babysit for us one night. I'll tell them that it will be a late night-I intend to stay and enjoy it while we can! Would you recommend a particular night of the week over another or is it the same anytime you go? How is the place set up- are we sitting at separate tablesor is it an audience type of thing. Can you have desert there or coffee-tea stuff or isit strictly a 'bar' type of scene? Thanks for taking the tiome to answer, marlene:wave:

Pretty much every night is busy there. Usually from 8:00-10:00 is relatively quiet, and then it picks up until about 1:00, and then it starts to empty out again. I really enjoy the intimacy of the 8:00 hour, as the piano players will talk to the audience to get requests. On Tuesday nights, cast members get in for free. I've never gone on a Tueday, but I hear it can get crazy.

I do suggest that you try to take a look at the schedule before you go to try to go on a night when Scotty and Ray are working. They are really the best pairing of piano players, and you'll have a blast watching them. All of the players are great, but Scotty and Ray are the best.

There are tables there, so you can sit down. They only have free popcorn to snack on. I don't know if you can get coffee or tea there.

Any other questions, let me know.

Karen
