Sounds nice :thumbsup2

I was on the hunt for light weight black pants yesterday. All the ones I own are for winter it seems. Well I found all sorts of light weight black cropped pants and capris but we can't wear those or can we? :confused3 I don't think we can. I finally found a pair of long pants that didn't seem too thick so hopefully those will work out. I've been burning up coming out of the store on the weekend

You've been reading my mind. I watched all these ladies in the store today in their cute little capris & kept wishing I had some on. But had no idea what kind of shoes I could wear with them while working & still be SAFE & comfy. I'm guessing its a no also on the capris. Besides....I would have froze myself to death while searching the backroom freezer today for more product if I had any less on than I did. :rotfl:

Hey Martha. I didn't want you to be mad about me taking a double today. I want you to know that the store I was at (the place I keep handing out cards) still has 5 AVAILABLE EVENTS for June..... if you are interested in working. :goodvibes And I think 2 other events for that store expired today...that no one ever took. I'm sure they would LOVE to have you.

This is what is on the FAQ section so no to the capris.

What am I required to wear at my event?
A white or black collared shirt or blouse, black skirt or slacks, black closed-toe shoes, a black cap and black apron are required. Some clients provide special apparel, which will be included in your event kit. Jewelry should always be conservative. No tattoos or piercings (only modest ear piercings) should be visible. When sampling and serving food, gloves must always be worn and changed when they become soiled

I can't see me wearing a skirt to an event though.......

I'd think capri pants would be far better than a skirt.........someone could wear a pretty short skirt I would imagine!?

That's what I was thinking! It doesn't say anything about the length :sad2:

Hi fellow demo'ers,

I've been away for a few days & I missed dising! I tried to sign on numrous times today & my id/password are not valid. I emailed TMT & SPi & they responded, but they gave me the info I already had & I can't log on. Anyone else having this problem??

I'm almost embarrassed to admit i have spent ALL day reading this post. Thanks to everyone for being so generous with their help and info. I just checked my email and Jessica from SPI said to call for a phone interview :thumbsup2
I am really excited for the chance to earn some extra $$.
We had to cancel our April trip due to unexpected root canal/oral surgery and i need to start building the Disney fund again!!

:welcome: Flair. Don’t feel embarrassed that you read all of this thread. It will help you when you do your first demo. I too read the entire thread back when there were only 3000 posts.

Momof296&02 - I’m not having any id/password issues.

Am I the only one who doesn’t go into the “back” room(s) looking for product? I didn’t know that was allowed. I asked two “dairy stockers” yesterday when I arrived at WM if there was anymore Yoplait Whips in the back. Both replied “NO”. There were only 30 containers of the flavors I was sampling left to sell after I purchased 36. Anyways, at 2:00, a different “dairy stocker” asked if I had enough product. I said I’m sold out of Strawberry Mist & Key Lime Pie if you have any in the back. Sure enough she came out with 1 case of each. I asked and she said they'd been back there all day. I could have easily sold all of the Key Lime had I had it two hours earlier. Since I was out of Key Lime & Strawberry, the customers were buying other flavors or types. As it was I sold more than half of what she brought out. The female who finally brought me more product said “the guys” don’t like to look for anything. If you need something, look for a “female” employee. I made a note of the product issue on my report form.

I’m off until Monday when I do a off-date BC Potato event.

I don't go in back to look for product either.
I had low stock on Wednesday when I did the Yoplait Whips. I was grabbing off the shelf when a stocker came up and asked if I needed help. This was the first time that I didn't have to find someone! Told him what I needed and he checked the back. Hardly had anything back there either, so I only bought 30. At 2:00, he comes by with a cart full, and tells me he found more in another spot! So I ended up buying 4 more towards the end. But people were also buying other types in the same flavors because the shelfs were so low. So between restocking and the other types, I had no clue how many sold.
I'm off until next week with the potatoes, too!
But it's good because my mom is coming to visit. She's 75, and she is doing the hula for a friends hs reunion!!!

When I go in to WM, I ask them where to set-up and they just look at me like :confused3. I did another Garnier yesterday and gave away the big balloon to a kid. He was so excited the little guy was running around the store going "Mommy, I'm a garnier boy!"

I've only had to go look a few times. Like if I'm working after the full-timers have gone home, or someone is out sick, or once at Target when the manager told me to because they were too busy. I guess because I (& DH) used to be dept managers at a grocery store YEARS & YEARS ago when we met, I just feel comfortable doing it. It doesn't bother me. (In our 20's, DH was dairy/frozen food manager, and I was asst front end manager, but in charge of the store on Sundays. That's how we met. We were even transferred from one store to another store 2 weeks after each other. It was fate. lol)

At Target, I'll scan a product & it will say if more are in the backroom. Not always correct though. A pallet was there once marked for demo, so it wasn't in their inventory. At Walmart, I'll have someone check it with their "gun", because I just don't believe them when they say there aren't any. The grocery backrooms at WM tend to be disorganized & I don't think they even know where to look. Target backrooms are way better organized. Kmart.....forget about totally.

More than once though, I've found more product after I thought I was sold out because an employee told me there was no more. I now want it scanned AND I'll go look myself if I just have a feeling they didn't really try hard to find it. When I did Snyders Multi Grain snacks, the shelf was pretty well stocked. I ran out of a few flavors fairly fast. Found out near the end that there were 15 MORE cases sitting right in the back waiting for me. I really should have just gone & looked but never thought to since the shelf was full when I started. My bad. NOW, I go look!!!

ETA: I've found that sometimes "appearing" in the back room makes certain individuals do their job of looking for product you asked for. KWIM? If I'm searching, they sort of have to also. I don't do it to everyone, just the ones I get a hunch on. ;)

And regarding asking where to set up. Again, by now, I've gotten a feeling for the stores I go to. I walk-in & sign the vendor logs at all stores. Some stores I just go right to work. Just a few stores (& always Target) I end up actually talking to the manager & where do they want me or telling them I'm here -- but its very few.

Only at Kmarts do I go in the back to look for product and/or my kits... Mainly because at most the Kmarts around me I know 2-3 people in the management there from previous stores I actually worked at (meaning, I worked at a kmart for 6 years as a stock boy when I was younger and the store was dissolved and the associates were split up around the area). At other stores... Target or Walmart, I don't go in the back at all. Even if I have to count the amounts I only use what is on the shelf... I can't control the fact that they don't stock the shelves throughout the day.... espeically if there is a demo going on.

Heads up to the Kansas City TMT Diser's who stalk the hours ( I know there are a couple of you out there) my DD is sick and I had to cancel my event for tomorrow 6/2 at ST on 135th and State Line. The demo captain there is super nice!!!

When I called in to tell them I couldn't work, I assured them KC hours go fast. Make me look good, will ya? Thanks!

Don't be embarrassed. I stayed up practically all night reading this thread to get info and it was over 300 pages. Lots of good info :thumbsup2

Nevermind...someone sent me the link THANKS!!

I have been trying to find the website for TMT to sign up with them also, but can't seem to find it in the thread. I've also googled it, but it's not giving me what i'm looking for. Do you mind sharing so I can check it out?

REMEMBER TO FREEZE YOUR ICE PACKS FOR TOMORROW - SAT 6/2 COPPERTONE / COTT BEVERAGE.

My question for anyone who has used the cardboard cooler thingy? What have been your results? We have to take shelf warm product & chill it in this open cardboard cooler with 4 provided small ice packs while we work in the HBA area of store. Not only am I leary that they will chill in the 30 minutes stated, I'm wondering if it will even stay cold for 5 hours....besides travel time from home to store.

I'm debating taking a cooler I have AND additional ice packs from home....but my cooler looks new & this is the store that wants to see a receipt when I leave the store with my 1 yr old scratched up microwave. :confused3

SplshMtn99 I didn't use my cooler thingy. I chickened out I thought it might leak. If you are going to use it I would take a few small plastic bags to line the cooler with just in case.

I can't thank everyone enough for the info I've got from this thread so far.
:thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks:
I started last Thursday and tomorrow will be my 6th event. I started to read all through this thread and have made it so far from page one up through 53 and working backwards to page 380 to try to get some recent info. Kind of a crash course to prepare before I went for my first events. Between working and DD being home from college over the weekend getting ready to move into her apartment I couldn't get all the way through yet. I hope I can read the rest of the way through those pages before I have any more events. So far I have nothing else available till June 23 and I keep checking.
Anywho I wanted to say thanks for that and also thanks to SplshMtn99 for the reminder to put my freezer packs in the freezer. I've got them in there now.:) I have to say I think I've got the most helpful tips from you too SplshMtn99:thumbsup2 The company should give you some kind of extra bonus for all the help you give us which benefits them IMHO.:)
I do have a couple of last minute questions about tomorrow if anyone has any ideas. I'm sorry if any of these questions have already been asked between pages 53 and 380. Like I said I'm working on reading through but I know I won't get all the way through between now and morning.
I was wondering about the cooler issue and how that little thing and those dinky little ice packs are going to get anything cool. SplshMtn99 sort of already answered that. I wondered if I could take my own cooler so I think I might. I think I could prove it's my cooler if they ask. It looks nice and new enough but you can tell it's been used around the wheels.
The other questions I had is what do you all do with leftover samples of drink if no one has taken them once they're too warm to serve? When I was doing BC potatoes I couldn't keep the little cups out for longer than 10 minutes. If I had any left after 10 minutes I just threw them in the trash. I'm afraid if I do that with drinks in my little cardboard trash can I'll have a mess if my bag leaks.
Last question. I recieved a second kit today for my event tomorrow. Anyone have that happen before? I haven't even tried to contact them about it yet. I just found it on my porch and it's so late to do anything about before tomorrow. I had such a heck of a time getting any answer from them before when I had questions before anyway I know they wouldn't get back to me before morning anyway. I just wondered if anyone else had ever recieved a duplicate kit and what did you do with it.

Yep about 10 minutes ago Fedex dropped off another kit for tomorrows event, this time it's JUST Coppertone though, no drinks. Not sure why?! I'll email them but my guess is they'll say to discard. That's what they told me to do with the kit I got the other week for my cancelled Honey Combs event... Does discarding it into my DS16 & DS12 stomachs count?!;)

Left over product ie unopened soda or whatever leave with the store for their break room. Opened product dispose of in the trash. Cups, napkins that came in your kit you take with you to use when you run out at another event or don't get the kit in time.
