how can we do this? I mean I know just book the trip and put it in their name. Our friend was just dx with acute myeloid leukemia m1 and dh and I want to send her and her family to wdw to stay at our dvc. Can anyone help me find out how to get her flight paid for? Does make a wish do this for adults?? Or dream come true? or can you just call an airline and ask them to help with a discounted rate? Does Disney help out with any special things for them? I have no idea. We (her friends ) are doing bake sales and blood drives and raffles to help raise money for her medical expenses. We would just love to see her have the vacation she has always wanted but could never save up for.

I don't have any info to help, but I wanted to tell you how nice I think you and your family are for doing this for your friend!!

I hope that you have all kinds of people post to give you some info.

I will keep your friends in our prayers.

Take care!!

As a DVC member, you can call member services and book her stay. Only members can make DVC reservations. The reservation will be in her and her families' names and they will check in just like any other resort reservation.

On Southwest if people have earned free flights, you can book them for other people, it doesn't have to be the person whose account earned the free ticket. I don't know about Make-A-Wish....maybe you can Google it in general on the Internet or even just do a search here on the DIS.

agnes!

Good point about Southwest. If people don't have free travel, but do have ticketless travel credits - those can be transferred to others, too. I think JetBlue has a similar policy with its credits as well.

Avoid Delta. I know for sure the person paying for the tickets MUSt be one of the passengers.

I would definetely use your friend base for the airfare. The airlines do not usually give you a price break. (I totally understand what you are doing and I think it is wonderful, but I am sure the airlines hear similar stories all the time). I would also find out if you could do a car wash for them to get some extra cash to spend while there.

You may also want to consider putting together a binder for them to help them with the planning. Get the names of the closest hospitals, pharmacies, etc. Plus maybe plan a few TS for the kids with the characters. Definetely go over to the disabilities thread and print out the sticky information for them as this is information above and beyond any you will get from a book. It is invaluable.

May God bless your friend and the whole family, and also to you are yours for being so generous. The world needs more people like you!:worship:

Ooh! I know this one!

Ahem. The front desk at their Disney resort, and First Aid at any park, will not only provide information on CentraCare walk in clinics, but until about 10 PM, CentraCare provides free transportation via shuttle. The resorts/First Aid can and will help with this. If an actual hospital is needed, the closest is Celebration Health. Turner Drugs - information also available from the resorts and First Aid - will deliver to your resort any product/s they carry, including prescriptions, for $5.

Wow you are quick! Can I have you around the next time my kids feel the need to get sick on a Saturday:lmao:? Seriously, it is really great that you could provide the information so quickly.

fortheluvofpooh, that is such a sweet, thoughtful thing for you to do :goodvibes

At home? Or in Orlando? I've covered Orlando :teeth: so, at home, I would recommend Minute Clinic (CVS) if your state has (finally, as with mine :rolleyes2) allowed them in, or Walgreens' version; if you're in Massachusetts north of Boston - or southern New Hampshire, I have a more speicific suggestion for you :)

thank you all so very much for your info. I am so hoping she will be in the minority and go into remission. Prayers are never ending for her. I love the idea about knowing where the hospitals are, etc. Thank you thank you thankyou!
