We are going in Sept - I am thinking of waiting until we can do the tour and hear the presentation.......... Do you think there will be incentives being offered then as well? I haven't followed how / what / when DVC usually does so. :confused3

There is always a "Deal" being offered. I have been told that Disney is going to start charging settlement fees on contracts and it was going to be around $200-$250 in fees. I would assume that as part of a new "deal" that they may waive that fee as part of the incentive.....But its a guess at best for me. :confused3

I believe there is also a price increase after July 1st.

we are going in august-third time this year so i took the plunge and joined dvc ssr sight unseen-they gave me 1200 toward my purchase and with a 1500 deposit i had to finance 12400. kinda like a used vehicle nowadaysbut i do onot th ink a used vehicle could last 48 years!! so we changed our package at the pop century and used some points to stay at ssr. i am sure we will love it. can't wait until aug 21!!

We just bought in May. Our incentives were $1300 of the price, double the points for the first year and no closing costs. We fell hook, line and sinker. I would rather have bought at the BWV, but the extra 12 years was also a big factor. Multiply what you would spend on vacation per year X 12 and thats alot of money. When you go, make them that offer and see what they say. It doesn't hurt to try. If they really want to make the sale, they will make it work. Good luck and have a great time. Our first trip home is in Sept. and I CAN'T WAIT !!!!!

Wait for the next resort to be announced. There is no logical reason the purchase SSR. Here is why:

1) Home resort matters only for booking priority. 8-11 month bookings are vital at some resorts during busy times. SSR is huge with almost constant availability. Why own there? You are gaining no booking advantage by owning there.

2) Direct theme park access. SSR offers none. WDW is about the parks, period. No one would have bought DVC if it wasn't for WDW. In fact DVC wouldn't exist. Central Florida timeshare market doesn't seem even remotely possible without the theme parks.

3) SSR points cost far more than OKW and HH. Why not own where the cost of ownership is lower. You certainly aren't gaining anything from a booking standpoint by owning SSR. You might as well stay in bigger rooms for less points at OKW with less upfront buy in money. Same could be said for owning HH.

The only advantage SSR has is the 12 extra years, period. I don't care if you LOVE SSR, I still wouldn't recommend owning there. I can stay there anytime with any points. In fact I could trade my other timeshares and get SSR even on short notice.

Please take this to heart. Owning SSR makes no sense whatsoever. If after this thread you still want SSR, talk to Tom at the TSS and save some money with those fresale SSR contracts $20 lower than DVC sells them.

I don't mean to sound mean but in this case I can't help it. DVC does NOT make deals, period. The current prices and incentives are set in stone. Lets hear the "DEAL" you talked them into? The price is the price. Ask all you want and let us know how that works out for you.

Just wanted to correct that.......... misstatement.

SSR is a lovely resort, and has the same theme park access as OKW and many other Disney resorts. I personally have no interest at all in staying at BWV or BCV. If you will be happy at SSR, and the 12 additional years makes sense to your age/family I would purchase now..the price will certaily continue to go up the longer you wait, and there is no guarantee that any "new" DVC will be in a better location...nothing has been officially announced other than Eagle Pines (which is on hold because the SSR site became available), and Eagle Pines will be no closer to parks than SSR. Now, if they build (as rumored only) at the Contemporary, you would have monorail access...but that is only speculation at this point.

And nothing at all against the resale market for SSR, but be aware that you'll more than likely get a stripped contract (all points used up for this year and next), which may work out well in your situaton....but personally, if I'm spending the $$$ for DVC-SSR, I'd want my points available for use NOW.

I agree.

You'll love SSR...my husband thought he would be happier at BWV, but we both agreed the serenity of SSR is amazing! We had a break from the hectic crowds at the parks, and we didn't have any extra noise like music, loud talking, people who drank way too much outside our window. If I were you, I would buy before the price increase on July 1. The price goes up from $98 to $101, so depending on how many points you buy it could make a big difference. In any case, I bought SSR sight unseen, and I absolutely love it!

I totally agree! I thought I would love BWV but fell in love with SSR!!!

We also bought sight unseen .We love DTD so that and the 12 extra years just work for us for our weeklong trips .

If we do a small contract I might concider one of the other resorts just for the 11month booking window. Or by the time I can afford it the Next resort might be open and I can get it there.

I have 11 days to hit a 2 bdrm and just can't wait .we visited it in Oct for a trip around the Resort and it was just great .

I think most that join DVC are ok not being in the parks every hour of every day and SSr is still closer then most other Off-sight places and drives.

I am curious about people talking about the prices going up on July 1st. All the paperwork that DVC sent me at the end of May had the current price for SSR listed as $101. Not $98. They are offering an incentive until the end of June that brings the price down to $93 per point (they give you $8 per point towards your downpayment). Or even down to $88 per point if you are willing to sacrifice your 06 UY points and not get new points until Feb '07 (they'll then give you $13 per point towards your downpayment).

So, I guess I'm confused as to where the info about the prices going up in July is coming from. Is that maybe for current DVC members who are adding on? Or were they trying to charge me more than the going rate?

I ended up buying BWV points from them, so it doesn't affect me one way or the other, but I just want people who are trying to decide about buying into SSR to not feel rushed to make a hasty decision if the price really has already gone up to $101. It may be that they no longer offer the $8/$13 per point incentive, however.

Yes, current members have until July 1 to purchase at $98. New contracts went up already.

Just another comment.

DVC is suppose to start charging settlement fees this summer, approximate cost of $200-250.

And to respond to Bruce.......To wait until the next resort is announced is fine. But that next resort may not be for three years. It may not be CRV or EP. It might even be in California. Kind of makes it hard to wait for an unknown resort, at an unknown location, at a time that is not determined.

If you like SSR, buy there. If you like one of the other four WDW resorts, buy there. You can always start with a small contract for now and add more points in the future (and you will add more points, we all do). And who knows in three years or five, the next resort might be a better fit for you.

Many people own at multiple resorts. I think that none of the resorts are perfect all year. They each have something special and that is what makes DVC worth buying.
