DH & I are planning on going to Disney in the Fall. We are DVC members so we'll be staying at one of the DVC properties. My question is....
In your opinion - which Disney property is the best when it comes to handicap-accessible rooms? And do you prefer a studio or 1-bedroom HA room?
I'm asking because DH is an above-the-knee amputee and has a wheelchair (and we'll more than likely rent an ECV while at Disney) but also wants to be able to put on the prosthetic leg and walk around a bit. A few weeks ago we stayed at BWV (our first time). We loved the resort but the room (non HA) was on the farthest side of the elevators and DH said he really felt like an invalid because he couldn't even walk to the elevators (and using the wheelchair just about killed his arms).
I want him to feel as if he's "home away from home" while we're at Disney so he can enjoy himself, but if he's going to feel like an invalid I know he's not going to enjoy himself but less want to go back. Know what I mean?
Thanks much!!
Michelle
