We have a week booked at Hilton Head and I'd like to get more information on the resort before our trip.

I know the vacation club rooms are separated from the "main house," buts that all I know. What is the distance between the two? Does anyone have a resort map online that I can view. What extra things are there to do for the kids, adults, etc.

Is there a gym? Do they have massage services? Is there an actual beach the wife can sun on or are we stuck at a poolside all day? What restaurants do they have on site? Local restaurants?

All information available would be appreciated. Disney's DVC site doesn't provide this info. Thanks!

Roger

As a HH fan, I'll try to answer some of your questions. Most of the rooms are in separate buildings from the main lodge. There are a few studios and 1 BRs there. There should be a resort map on the DVC page, but everything is real close-not spread out. I don't know if there are massages, I think not, but there is a (fairly small) workout room. The beach is about 1 1/2 miles away and there's a free little shuttle directly from the resort (we always go "off season", so I don't know much about this or about the weekly fireworks in season). There's a snack bar at the pool and another over at the beach. Other than that, there isn't a resturaunt on-property (thank the Hilton Head Powers that Be for that). However, there are LOTS of resturaunts around. There's quite a schedule of weekly activities too. However, right now, I think, they're without a naturalist, so I don't know what effect that might have on their offerings. And there's an activity room-Big Murgie's Den, with a pool table, checkerboard table, big-screen TV, board games, newspaper, and in the afternoon-free warm cookies!

lots of people rent bicycles, there are package deals for families. the island is bicycle friendly. the access road to the resort goes through a retail/restaurant area, and there are many good restaurants close by. we did a dolphin tour that was a lot of fun. the beach is very nice, we ended up going to walmart and buying beach chairs and an umbrella for use on the beach after seeing rental prices. lots of people do this and leave them behind when they leave.
