Want hard to get PS's? Read this warning before you call

Today both DH & I tried for PS's to CRT. I could not get through but DH got through on his first try at 7:59 by cell phone. He blurted out his request for PS on 3/9 and the CM told him he was calling one day early. He didn't argue it and hung up and told me what happened. I told him that today IS 60 days ahead and that I had counted it out on the calendar. I re-counted it twice more (still 60 days) and then checked the online calculator here on DIS which also said today was 60 days. Finally, I had DH call back from work and double check what happened this afternoon - so we would know what date to request tomorrow am. The CM he got this time said "I'm sorry sir, you're right - today was 60 days. You got bad information this morning and now there are no spots left." I am fuming mad about this. With our luck, this was our one chance to make this PS and a CM with no knowledge answers the phone. If he had sat there and argued the date with her, it wouldn't have mattered because the time that would take would've blown the PS anyway. I really feel angry. And I wanted you all to know that apparently there are some not-so-helpful CM"S out there so WATCH OUT for them when calling for these hard-to-get ressie's. I'm very unhappy with this situation!

Don't lose faith. Keep trying. I forgot to try on the right day so I tried the day after and they had spots left. Keep trying!!!

I too called today, but was fortunate enough to get a seating(after trying on 3 previous trips with no luck). I live in the central time zone and called the number at 5:57 am. My call was promptly answered. Try starting your call a little before their opening. Sending pixie dust your way in hopes that you get your PS. I had 2 other people trying at their homes and they were not able to get a PS. If any of the others had gotten a PS also, we would have cancelled any others by 6:30.

Sorry to hear that you didn't get your PS, but keep trying. Everyone makes a mistake, and it was the day for the CM that you got.

Try again tomorrow for the following day. Oh, and btw, it is possible that even had the CM known the correct date, you still may not have gotten you PS.

My DH got in and everything and then she told us bad info. and so we weren't able to get a PS. It just makes me so upset. We will try again, but I'm very disappointed that something like this would happen. Don't the CM's know how hard people try to get in to CRT?? You'd think they'd have their information correct.

Sorry you didn't get the PS you wanted, you got a bum deal. But by the same token the CMs are probably saying, "don't the CRT callers know what they want before they call? You'd think they'd be certain of the schedule before they call".
Hope you have better luck with your next attempt.

i called last week for ps at 6:58am, got through on the first try and the cm told me i was a day early too. luckily, i did confront her on this and she made the ps ( with no apology about her error) at the time i had wanted.

I have made several PS's, all on the exact day that would be 120 days out, 60 days out, etc (just call me anal!). At least half of the time the CM would say "Hmm, I don't think you can book that quite yet..." I'd say "No, I'm sure it's today." And then they would check and sure enough, I was right. So then I got the times, dates, I wanted. I think part of it was me- I was probably calling for restaurants that aren't "that" high in demand to be calling 120 days out, part of it is the 2 days less in Feb- one CM said that's what threw her. But with CRT, I would think the CM's would know, okay, today is the 60 day mark for such and such day since that must be what the first 300+ of their calls are every day. I'm sorry that happened, but like the other posters said, keep trying- maybe someone will cancel or maybe you can try for a different day? Or try the Princess breakfast at Norway? A lot of people of spoken extremely highly of that breakfast. Good luck!

I'm not sure where you are located, but you noted that your husband called at 7:59. I'm not sure if that is a typo or not. Be sure and call at 6:59 eastern time. PS's for March 9 were all gone by 7:10.

I think I'm so flustered by all this that I'm getting mixed up. Yes, he got in at 6:59 am - that's whay I meant to say. Now that I know this has happened to others, we're at least on the alert for it to happen again. But it sure seems like they ought to have their ducks in a row for CRT at least - where seconds can turn a PS into a "no go."

We're going to try again tomorrow.

Since the PS system is all computer driven, I wonder if somehow that CM's computer screen "refused" your 60 day PS??
What I mean is, I don't think the CM would go looking at a calandar and count the days. Probably wouldn't go any further than what the computer told him (or her).

It didn't take long for me to realize how very little the Restaurant PS system CM's really know about the restaurants they are taking reservations for--. Very few can get beyond what they are told to say about arriving 5 minutes early, etc etc.

When people try with multiple phones, sometimes they all get through, and wind up with extra seatings. If you can't get your PS, try again later that day, around 1 pm. You may be pleasantly surprised that there is a cancellation - that is how I got my seating for 5 on Dec. 18th~

On our dec trip, I didn't make any PS before we got there. After arrival I made PS's for CRT and the Princess BF at epcot. I actually had two PS for CRT and only ended up using one.

Try when you get there, you be surprised.

I had the same problem with a CM regarding our New Years Eve ressie at Le Cellier. I called on the date specified by the 'PS Calc' and was told by a CM that I was a day early. She wouldn't listen to anything I had to say in rebuttal.
So I hung up and hit re-dial, got a different CM, and got my PS. The CM that I spoke with said that she had no idea why the first CM rejected me, because she'd been making 12/31 PS' all morning. Go figure!
