Disney is auctioning off a dinner and ride on Expediton Everest for two on Feb. 3rd.

They also have some auctions for vacation packages where you can ride it, behind the scenes tours and to be a part of the storyline!

Anyone got an extra couple grand to spend??

I'm too scared to ride, but being part of the storyline would be cool! You could tell all your friends to check it out when they ride.

Too bad I am not rich... :(

An afterthought...I take it that the ride will be "ready" by then, so maybe us poor folk might get lucky with a soft opening ride??? Fingers crossed!

no thanks, I will just ask some CMs on another board when they start using random normal guests as test dummies, and then go down.... alot cheaper, especially if you have an AP......

Can't afford it though, still looking forward to it. :goodvibes :wave2: :wizard:

When will this ride open for the public??
the official date is not around yet, but my guess is soft openings around the time of these packages. If you are lucky you might be able to be a human test dummy for WDI!

They were testing it this week. We watched cars going through. They look like the trains from BTMRR and they look like they are moving about as fast so I think this ride will be more like BTMRR than RnRC.

My sister mentioned to me that she read somewhere that they are testing it with buckets of water as the passengers. I thought she was pulling my leg. But I guess they use these as guides, how and for what, I can only guess.

Not exactly. The trains for Everest are way better themed than those for BTMRR. As for speed. BTMRR's top speed is about 28 mph compared to RnRC at 57 mph. Everest's top speed is in the low 50's by comparison.

Water dummies are used to test the train as it will operate with the weight of guests on board. By controling the amount of water in each dummy they can test the ride with people of different weights.

That makes sense...water dummies rather than buckets. :teeth: A lot more scientific, I imagine!

Ooooooh I sure hope this means it will be open end of March!!!

I wonder what the height requirement is?

If only...I had the moolah and I was there one day earlier for my trip! Very cool though!

Hi!

We were told on Saturday by a CM over by EE that soft openings are scheduled for Feb or March, with an official opening this April!

Crossing my fingers that this ride will be ready the 2nd week of Feb., since the auction date is for Feb. 3rd. Test Track will be down so this would really pick me up :cool1: .

You know, I don't know that I would bid on this even if I DID have the money. Did you see the feedback rating for them? LOTS of negative, and they choose to keep feedback comments private so I can't judge for myself if the negatives are from "wackos" or legitimate problems??

Given those conditions I certainly wouldn't bid on something from anyone else on ebay--don't think I would trust DisneyAuctions any more than anyone else.

Hoping though for Soft Opening opportunities for DH first week of Feb. Surely they have to test it with non paying human dummies before they allow paying dummies to ride! :rotfl2:

How do soft openings work? Do they "announce" them or is it...just walking by & notice it's running? Do they grab people walking by? Anyone know?

I don't want to spend my entire vacation walking around EE & miss everything else, but I would kick myself in the butt if I missed the opportunity!
