Here's a copy of the email I sent to WDW Guest Communications this morning. It should be self explanatory:

Dear Disney World:

I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the housekeeping and lost and found cast members at the Boardwalk Villas.

As a DVC member, I stayed at my Boardwalk "home" for marathon weekend. (I completed the Goofy Challenge.:) ) Unfortunately, we had to make a hasty departure on Sunday afternoon and at some point fatigue undermined my packing efficiency.

Imagine my heartbreak and disappointment on Monday when I discovered I left my Garmin race watch behind. It contained all my marathon and half marathon data on time, distance, pace, etc. And it was gone, or so I thought.

I immediately called Lost and Found to see if it turned up. Sadly, Fazil reported no sign of it. Oh, well, I thought. Lesson learned.

I don't know why, but today (Tuesday) I called back "just in case" it really was there. Fazil said yes! He had it this time. Thank goodness and thank housekeeping! He's going to mail it to me. The news brought a lump to my throat.

What a great ending to a thrilling weekend. The Disney magic really does exist. Please make sure Fazil and the correct housekeeper get credit for restoring this guest's happiness and faith in Disney World.

Thank you.

Sure, this is how it's SUPPOSED to work. And maybe it shouldn't be necessary to recognize when a CM does his or her job right. But, in my case, the practical and sentimental value of thier find meant enough to me that I had to write in. :thumbsup2

Wonderful post. I absolutely agree with the recognition given.:thumbsup2 If we all could acknowledge good work as well as we do bad work, we'd have more of these great experiences to share.

I left a camera at the Poly and thankfully the waitress left us a message at our resort so we could retreive it.:thumbsup2

Kelley, a similar thing has happened to me. My daughter got off the plane in Atlanta, but her passport went to Chile. She had already cleared customs at JFK, otherwise we would have noticed right away. Someone found it and Delta in Chile called to let us know. They have put it in the mail to us. As soon as we receive it, I will be sending a letter to the person returning it, along with his supervisor. Thank goodness I know at lot of Delta people, so getting the address was easy.

Congrats on getting your watch back!

On a side note, congratulations on being GOOFY!! Hope you had a couple of great runs. Which forerunner were you using?

Thanks. The Half was great; the Full was, er, grueling. I'll never do 2 consecutive days again. :sad2:

Anyhoo, I use the Forerunner 205. Tried DH's 305 but that dang heart monitor doesn't feel right on me. The 205 is all I need.:thumbsup2

Congratulations on the Goofy!

And from one who still has his marathon training logs from many years ago -- WHEW!

Non-runners may say -- "For a watch???:confused3 " but those of who are, or have been, distance runners...we understand.

I've made a point the last few years to email guest communications after every trip. I keep a list of names of the special CM's that we come in contact with and make sure to list them and give a date and time of the encounter so they can be recognized.
Sure, if there are disappointments I'll mention that too-but I've found since I've been making an effort to recall special effort and names the good far outweighs the bad.

Kelley, did you train any differently? Or was it more or less just sticking with a mary training sched. I'm toying with the idea of doing it next year. Run for fun not time!!!! If 26.2 is considered fun.:lmao:

I just changed from the 101 to the 201 for the download ability. Can't justify the extra cost for the 05s yet. Spending all our money on our first contract that should close within the month.:cloud9:

Kelley,
Would you mind posting your room #? I have a favorite mousekeeper at BWV and I know her approximate room assignments and was wondering if she was your mousekeeper.
Congratulations on your marathon success!

We were in a 2br preferred view: 1108 & 1110. This ground-level at the quiet pool. The kids loved walking right out the patio and over to the community room for DVDs.
