I haven't had the experience of riding Expedition Everest yet but I'll be at WDW 10/27 thru 11/4. I'm not a big rollercoaster fan but can handle Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain with no problem.

I would like to hear from my fellow wimps when it comes to thrill rides to see if any of you have had the Expedition Everest experience and what your thoughts were about the ride.

I've seen an on ride video of EE and am especially curious about the backwards sequence. That part of the video of course in the dark and you can't make out much of what's going on at the point. Also would like to know how the initial drop is, looks pretty steep.

Any comments and of course words of encouragement and empowerment would be appreciated.

P.S. I don't care for Tower of Terror, Mission Space, or Aerosmith Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. I know....wimp!!!

i thought that everest was pretty mild actually. The motion is slower than rock n roller coaster. You roll backwards for a little bit, but then the train stops so you can see the Yeti, this gives you enough time to get your bearings straight and it's a mild ride after that. I think you would be fine.

Backwards section freaked me out. It doesn't just 'roll backwards'. It goes backwards very very fast and up in a helix. The pressure in my chest really scared me and I didn't feel well for a good hour or so afterwards.

this roller coaster made me a little bit dizzy afterwards...that being said, I thought it was pretty fun too. The backwards bit is a little disconcerting, but it's a great new twist on the roller coaster thang!!! I liked this MUCH better than RR at MGM...RR is so fast and it's over in an instant and you don't even have time to enjoy the ride before it's over. EE is an experience...you should try it!!! :thumbsup2

keep em coming...you've got 5 days to convince me this will be ok...

The only "thrill ride" I wont do is RnR...the others I can handle...

I took Dramamine that morning and didn't feel sick but was a little dizzy. My husband passed on taking the dramamine and was very sick after the ride.

I did EE once, it was a bit shaky, almost like Space Mountain to me,at least my head kept bopping around :rotfl: and I didn't keep my eyes oped for the last part of the ride.

My DD 11 didn't especially like Splash Mountain this trip around, because of the drop but she loved EE and rode it 6 times sometimes by herself sitting to a complete stranger and calming them down :)

My DD went on it 4 times and he liked it, I'm the wimp but this time around I went on ToT and loved it, every trip is different to us, we like different rides different trips!

Oops, my DH went on it 4 times, not my DD, sorry!

I got a tiny bit nauseas (sp?) at the part where you go backwards. To me the ride was a little lame. I felt the que line was so much better than the ride. One thing I would have missed if my ds did not point out, when you get to the top of the mountain and you stop because the yeti tore out the tracks, look to your left and you will see a bird of prey appear. If you can handle thunder mountain than I would say you can handle this ride.

I got very nauseous on the backwards part. I rode it twice with my kids and thought I would throw up the 2nd time. I prayed really hard that I would make it through! :rotfl: Too bad because I think I would have liked the ride otherwise. The 3rd time my kids rode by themselves!

I am a whimp and I liked ee. I only rode it once though. The backwards part wasn't too bad. I felt like I was going to go upside down though. I didn't look out when we were going up starting off but now I wished I would have. I was a little nervous about the ride and heights so I kept my eyes forward.

I think you should ride it once and you will be ok. I think they have a lap bar and I felt pretty secure with it - usually I don't.

The only "thrill ride" I wont do is RnR...the others I can handle...
That does make it a bit tough, as E:E probably falls between RnRC and the other roller coasters at WDW when it comes to intensity.

My wife doesn't do much in the way of thrill rides anymore. She rode E:E once and was dizzy for awhile afterwards. She had the option of going on it again immediately after and declined.

I don't think you're really going to know for sure until you try it yourself.

If you can handle Space Mountain, you'll be fine with Everest. :thumbsup2 I LOVE  Everest, but Space makes me woozy. Don't know why. Request the front car on EE--not so fast/freaky.
Have a magical trip! :sunny:

I have never done TOT - absolutely hate large drops. I did ride Rock N Roll once this trip. The beginning was pretty intense. After that it was ok. I absolutely dread an intense steep drop at the beginning of a roller coaster but generally enjoy the rest of the ride. That said, I LOVED Everest. The backward segment is pretty fast but didn't scare me like a big drop does. The steepest drop is toward the end and isn't awful in my opinion. I rode the ride about 6-8 times one day. Loved it!!! :yay: :yay:

This is my new favorite ride. My DD11 and DS16 both loved it too. My DH is another story. We rode it twice within a 40 minute period and I thought my DH was going to pass out. He doesn't like going backward and going on it twice sent him over the edge. It is a very smooth ride...much better than Rockin Roller Coaster.

Fellow wimp reporting in! I can also handle Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain without a problem (LOL, the WDW version, the DL version of SM about did me in), I'll do Splash Mountain because I love the ride itself even though I hate the drop, and I did Rock N Rollercoaster once and said never again. Tower of Terror I would never do, just watching it makes me feel ill, and I actually do like Mission:Space. I had the very same concerns about EE, so much that I didn't ride it when I was in WDW in March. I got brave and tried it in August and I loved it. It is very smooth and not really much wilder than Big Thunder Mountain up to the point it goes backwards. Even that wasn't too bad, and then that one big drop that you can see from the outside of the ride is the biggest drop that there is. That drop is not as bad as even Splash Mountain, especially since it kind of curves at the end. I liked it so much in August that I made a special early morning trip over to AK in September just to do EE before meeting my dh in Epcot!

I really think you should try it, I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

I'm a wimp, but I was able to handle EE without getting sick. imo, it's more intense than Space Mountain, Big Thunder Railroad, and Splash Mountain (which to me is a thrill ride!), but nowhere near as bad as RnR. There were a couple portions of the ride that felt uncomfortable (too much pressure, stomach starting to rise up to my throat), but they were all very brief and over before I knew it. The effects and scenery were GREAT so I'm glad I rode it once. However, once was enough for me this trip! I will ride it again (once) the next time I'm at wdw :)

I absolutely hate roller coasters. I rode Space Mountain last month with my DH and DD. I had my eyes closed the whole time and just wanted to get off. I don't like rides where I can't see what's coming! That said, I loved EE. I had seen the video on YouTube several times, so I knew what was coming. I didn't have any problems at all and would definitely ride it again. I also love BTMR. Neither have big drops - I don't mind speed and curves, it's the drops (and the dark) that I hate.

EE is deceptive. From the outside you can see the train going up, up, up, and you do not get to see the great spirals that the train takes after that. From the outside vantage point, you see what is probably the steepest drop on the entire ride, and it is curved just enough that my stomach (which "flip flops" on Splash Mt) never even reacts!

Try it!

I appreciate everyone's feedback. It really helps. There seems to be differing opinions on how intense the backward section of the ride is. Some say "not so bad" and some say "intense" and experiencing feelings of "pressure".

Can some of you expand a little bit more on the backward section. What exactly is happening during that time. Are you vertical (straight up) when going backwards?
