Does anyone have any advice over which wands to get? I have three kids - 19, 16, and 11. Is it worth getting the interactive wands for those ages? My 16 year old is very excited about getting her own wand, chosen for her! lol So I guess I'm just wondering how many of your older kids got into the spells with the interactive wands. I know it's personal preference but just curious if the spells themselves are really cool and worth it. Thanks!

Hopefully all three of your children won't pick the same wand

I have heard that you don't pick the wand but the wand picks you

You gotta tell us how it goes in the wand picking for your kids

My older teen girls and my 13 year old niece loved the interactive wands and there are always guest of any age using them, its fun to watch and fun to do!

The wand show is amazing but you don't have to go to the show or be picked at the show to get a wand there are many to choose from in the store in both parks and a slightly smaller choice (IIRC) in the main gift shops. The wand show only picks one guest per show to have the wand chosen for them and the one time one of our kids was chosen they ended up purchasing a different wand. I recommend the show btw it was really fun!

My kids chose theirs either based on favorite characters or just the general style and look of the wand itself.

I will let you know! My 11yo son is wishing so badly to be picked for the show but I told him it's a long shot! lol Maybe the 16yo will be happy to have the interactive one.

If you are staying on site, you might be able to get a small crowd in Ollivander's during early entry. When I went in Sept 2014, it was literally me and Mike, so we both got to do the wand ceremony.

If you can swing it, definitely get the interactive wand. We take ours back every trip. I actually bought one for myself, after DS had one. The interactive windows are really fun, especially if you are killing time during early entry.

We are staying at RPR so we are definitely taking advantage of the EE. It might be worth a try, thanks!

Well, DH is way over a teen and has enjoyed his plain and interactive wands.

The wand-chooses-wizard stuff, well, as far as I know mainly happens in the show, and that's generally one person per show. I'm not sure what they do if you want to have that experience without the show. But you could ask them what wands for what birth months (that's pretty much the shorthand). Or you can have character wands.

I personally just don't get it. You stand in line watching 5 people in front of you do the exact same thing as each other, and then you do it, too, and then 5 more people do it. Even DH and DS, who *like* it, just started pointing the interactive wand tip at the box with the sensor rather than doing the motion. The motion is persnickety and it's a challenge (sometimes) to find the sensor, so they just started doing that. I sit around looking at all the traffic jams the whole thing causes. (I'm not a fan of the similar thing at disney, either)

Anyway, budget for interactives for each, and let them choose.

We picked them out using the variety of charts they have in the shop, things like birth month, personality characteristics... no one wanted a character replica wand. We bought the kids wands and then all took turns playing with them. Tons of fun!

I know this info is somewhere, but I don't know where - how much do the regular and the interactive wands cost? Off-topic, but while I have your attention; does Uni have something like Memory Maker? Thanks.

Unless it's changed, the interactive wands are around $50. I wanna say like 35-40 for the regular wand. Universal has the Star Connect photo thing which is similar to memory maker. It should be on the website.

My kids are potter fans, but they love the interactive wands......17dd, 15ds, 13dd.
I may have tried them a few times myself. :-)
