Walt would be ashamed.

That's too bad about the VMK, I never really got into it, but it's stilla big loss to alot of people.
It's strange that they would close ti just because it's not making money though...maybe they are losing money from it (i don't know HOW...but I can't see them closing it just because it doesn't MAKE money??)

But I agree with what Jenny & Ash were saying, Walt was a businessman, interested in money just as any oter businessman would be. But WDW will always have the Walt Disney spirit.

I agree. I never really got into it, but it seemed like it really mattered to many people here.

:(

I only really just started playing VMK!

Unfortunately "money makes the world go round" :(

I think everyone should be ashamed... I seriously don't think Walt would have wanted Hannah Montana or That's So Raven, or Phil Of The Future to be created at all... he'd probably have a fit.

And nobody can even make a name anymore..It's slowly closing out. I guess I figured something would happen when they closed down VMK Central in WDW.

I come here because this is sort of like my family. My second family.

I know that if I ever met some of these people in real life I'd have no problem running up to them and giving them a humongous hug. I know that I wouldn't be shy at all, and I know I would act as if I had known them since they were in diapers. I guess it's because everyone here is just so darn accepting, friendly and down to earth. There's no judging around here based on material things. Everyone here can just be themselves.

It's really a great place to have, especially for people like us in our teen years. Going through all kinds of things, it's really great to just get away from that for a little bit and come to people who welcome you with open arms.

And no matter how shy someone is in real life, they can get to be the most opinionated person on here.

I come here because honestly, this place has really helped me grow as a human being.

Amen.
I am the most outgoing person on here, who isnt afraid to express my opinion. At school, EVERYONE pushes me down, calls me ugly, tells me what i CANT do.
Here...I feel so warm, and welcomed, its like the coziest home.

Actually..I dont want to sound like a know it all, but..
Walt died before WDW was made, and i actually think he would be a little upset with WDW. Disneyland..is where the vibe is, the actual faith of disney, but WDW....its a different kind of faith.

BUT.
I get what youre saying. I believe that too.

I think everyone should be ashamed... I seriously don't think Walt would have wanted Hannah Montana or That's So Raven, or Phil Of The Future to be created at all... he'd probably have a fit.

Yeah,
Walt was a cool guy, but I dont think he wouldve been into Hannah Montana, or That's so raven at all.

I said this once, and Im not afraid to say it again :

Walt Disneys dream, was to have something for the ENTIRE family to enjoy. Not just beeny boppers, hopping around, the ENTIRE family.

I'm rather sad that VMK is going :(

I remember them posting when VMK Central closed that it didn't mean VMK was closing. Guess they lied.

I would be extremely said if the DIS closed. It would be like a friend moving away to a new country. We might still have contact with each other, but it just wouldn't be the same.

Leaving DIS would be harsh. I'm SO happy that they said the VMK boards will stay.

I don't really know if Wal would really be his rolling over in his grave @ the state of the Disney corporation, I'm not so sure about that...I mean, he played to HIS audience, The Disney Corporation today is playing to THEIR audience. Mickey Mouse cartoons were perfect for the 1960's audience, but today it's a whole new playing field.
Walt was all for innovation, and invention, and I truly do believe that the Disney Corporation is doing a genuinely good job in that department.
I think Walt would be thrilled at CGI movies...it's the way of the future, just like EPCOT was to Walt.
And Hannah Montana, The Animal Kingdom, All the Resorts that weren't in Walt's original plan...well they are all really inventive too AND they make people happy, which was another one of Walt's main goals. (well, MOST of the family...I KNOW alot of you don't like hannah montana, but the reality is that kids love it, and whatever makes kids happy makes parents happy...and to be honest, I really do like Hannah Montana at 18!!)

Anyways, that's just my opinion. I get kind of irritated when people say that Walt wouldn't like the current state of Disney, I mean it's a whole different world now, the simplicity of the '60s is looong gone, and I think Walt would appreciate the technology and advancements that we have today.

And I'll finish my novelesque post riiight abouuuut NOW.

To me, it's their television and movie industries, that are only in it for the money. Hannah Montana and HSM have gone WAY overboard, they're everywhere, they have freaking ice shows, toothbrushes, 3-D concerts.. etc.
All little kids want now is little Hannah Montana dolls, they don't give no crap about princesses or talking animals. It's all SUPERSTARS and really unrealistic visions of high school. You can say all Disney things are unrealistic, but really, when it's a movie about basically real life.. you shouldn't make it out to look like everyone in high school is cheery, sings and dances and wears bright colors. It's just not how things are.
I also am getting annoyed with 3-D Pixar movies. Sure, yes, it looks really nice, but I'd rather watch a 2-D animation than a Pixar movie.

Now, I do know that the parks bring in a lot of the money. Yes, in some ways, they are money grabbing, and you could go several other places cheaper...
But to me, they're the ones who still have the... morals? of Walt. They still live true to 'Dreams do come true', and making people feel like they're not really on vacation, and they're not in the real world. They're in this fantasy world where nothing else but now matters. It's a truly creative place, that holds all of the true Disney classics, to all of the new stuff. To me, it's what he would have wanted.

Now, I do say often that Walt is turning in his grave. None of us could really know if he would be.

:guilty: The reason I'm on DIS is because of VMK.
The reason I met some GREAT friends here is VMK.
The reason some of my closest friends are on DIS chat is VMK.
And now...it's gone..and I can't seem to let it register. :sad1:

Same.
I mean if i hadn't ever been on VMK i would of never came across DIS.
Everyone here is like my second family like what BabyPiglet said.
And its also sad to loose a lot of my VMK friends because Disney has the need to close the game because they don't get money for it.

Well Mouse, no offense but if I remember correctly you've never actually been to WDW. It's got alll the magic, baby. Trust me. As I'm sure Disneyland does too.

Walt did have a big part in inventing the plans for WDW, he just passed before he could actally see it open.

ITA!

As much as I would still love to it to be as simple at the 60's.

Walt wanted it to be a family place. Now they have smoking and drinkine which Walt did not want. When I go there I will see kids crying and then the parents just ignore them or smack them.

I would say that Walt is turning over in his grave, if he weren't frozen.
But yes the Disney company is being ruined currently.
And Michael Eisner should be drug out into the middle of the street and shot for the Stitch's Great Escape.
Like Brit said, he wanted it to be a family place; and they're losing the touch of that.

WTH?
I mean.. I hardly ever go on VMK anymore, but I never thought it'd just close... and now, because it's closing, there's not really a point to going on because it'll just be gone. VMK is so much better than all the other online games like club penguin. It's just... I don't even know, that website has a lot of sentimental value to me. :sad1:

I'm shocked to hear that VMK is closing down. I have an account there but rarely ever use it. That's too bad, I know it was quite popular.

If the DIS ever closed, I would go crazy. This is an amazing place, and the TB is like a family to me.

I can't believe that VMK is closing, but I'm not extremely upset.

Thank goodness Disney doesn't own the DIS
