You find things out in some of the strangest ways. Yesterday I was reading an article about the final resting place for Michael Jackson. The reporter apparently went to the famous cemetary where he will be placed. A caretaker there who has worked there for many years gave her a tour of the grounds. As she reports at one point they went around a musoliem and the caretakers said "here's something most people have not seen." He then mpved a palm plant back and pointed to a plaque on the wall. It said Walter E. Disney , Ashes spread in Paradise. Below it was a Little Mermaid Statue ( I assume one based on the original story or legend, not the movie version) and placed at the base of the statue was a Mickey Mouse stuffed toy. Certainly the focus of the article was where Michael Jackson was to be buried but from it I learned something about Walt.

Does the saying suggest that Walt's ashes were spread in Disneyland?

Interesting question.

I went to this cemetery in 2007. My friend and I had a few hours before our flight out of Burbank and we didn't want to get caught in the LA traffic... so we went. It's beautiful.

Someone showed us Walt's "grave" but I didn't see this place you're talking about. His "grave" is in a little courtyard and we had to move some branches away from it, too.

That is really interesting! Thanks for sharing. I wished we'd known, we would have looked for it.

That plaque is what we saw.

I thought everyone knew that Walt Disney had his body frozen and that it is presently in the tower of Cinderalla's castle at WDW.

I think it is his daughter Sharon's ashes that are "scattered in Paradise".

I had heard about the frozen body rumor for years and it's something that would be believable, considering Walt's interest in science and the future. All actual accounts say he is buried in Forest Lawn.

True except that the first person to be cryogenically frozen didn't happen until about 7 months after Walt died...

interesting thread, thank you.
About the frozen body, I remember that rumor since I was a Kid, one of my dreams was to go to Disneyland one day and meet Walt Disney in the Castle, I didn't know he was dead, I thought that people on TV couldn't be dead because they were on TV, anyway, then someone told me that he was dead and that his body was frozen.

Really? What happened to that person? Are they still frozen?

Although... his body may have been bronzed and used in the statue in front of Cinderella's Castle...

I'll go away now...

DH's parents are buried at the same cemetery. We've visited Walt's grave once; it's not far from the section we usually visit. Very quite; very peaceful & nowhere near Michael Jackson.

The rumor is that he was frozen, and they even take him on tour around the country from time to time.

The tour is called...

And you thought it was an ice skating show.

I like you both, thanks for the smiles. :)
