Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

I have a room booked at the Dolphin that I booked more than a month ago. I used the TROOPS rate and have a base rate of $269.80. With taxes and fees, it came to $328.53 for the one night deposit. My original confirmation shows the rate breakdown as such.

The other day I logged into my SPG account to link my Marriott account. I took a look at my upcoming reservation and noticed that the total was higher than before. When I clicked in the rate breakdown, it now shows my nightly rate as $283.20 and my per night breakdown as $342.00. What the heck? Are they allowed to change the rate like that after I already paid a deposit? I called them about it and they couldn't answer what was going on so they had to forward it some customer care team directly at the hotel (since it was a special rate). I just got an email (a form email) saying I should hear from them in three days as to the status of the inquiry.

Has this ever happened to anyone? This is almost a $75 difference so it's not a huge deal, but just the thought that they have the power to do something like that seems pretty shady.
Are there any qualifications to get the TROOPS rate? Like an ID or something? Do you have to provide that to book? Is it possible they will adjust the rate when you arrive and prove you qualify for the rate? Of course, all that applies only if they require something to get the rate

Yes you have to show ID. However, the rate is not really discounted at all. It was the same rate that was listed as SPGs "best available rate" at the time I booked. All it really gives me is the 50% dining discount. And on my original booking and for several weeks afterwards on my SPG reservation page, the rate was listed the same way. It suddenly changed randomly.

I just booked the Swan for Spring Break. Can't link it to MDE yet. It said it could take up to 24 hours. I have a few questions. Can I book all ADRs 180+10 with the Swan reservation once linked?

If you read back in the thread there have been some who claimed they could book the +10. But officially Disney says you can only book 180 at the Swan/Dolphin. I know because I tried calling a few days ago and they denied the +10 (I even escalated to a manager). Which is a bummer because I'm West Coast and it opens at 3AM in the morning (which I was hoping to only have to do once for our 10 day trip).

In addition, my MDE is not letting me book any restaurants online for any days of my trip (even the ones that are less than 180). It let me see the available times for the date but when I select a time I get the "Sorry for the Paws" Lady and the Tramp error message. I've tried to get this fixed with three different phone calls (two to Disney and one to Starwood) but still no luck. The weird thing is that it will let me book dining no problems for days BEFORE my trip. Ug. I've basically resigned myself to calling in - so far I've been able to get everything I want even though there's an hour delay. I'm not sure if this is a Swan/Dolphin thing??? Hoping it resolves before the Fastpass window opens.

That makes no sense and it can't be a Swan/Dolphin thing. There are no resort stay requirements of any sort to book an ADR. Locals who never plan to stay on site can book ADR. They just can't book the 180+10.

I know it's not SUPPOSED to be a Swan/Dolphin thing but there's obviously a technical glitch going on which may (or may not) be related to it being a non-Disney hotel. I tried to get them to remove the hotel reservation from MDE to see if that would work but they said they could only do that if I actually cancelled the reservation (if it was a Disney owned hotel they said they could easily do it). Trust me, I've spent over an hour on the phone trying to fix it. Luckily, calling in to Disney dining works fine. Just frustrating.

Hopefully, some day, Disney will treat the Swan/Dolphin as a Disney resort and allow the DDP, booking of ADR's at the 180 +10 mark, and use the ME to and from the airport. I think it would make a lot of people happy.

Actually, my point is, whatever issue you are having, more than likely you'd be having it no matter if you had an reservation or not. Since no reservation anywhere is needed to book ADR

I hate calling enough that I'd make a new MDE account just to book dining reservations with

Yes good point. And I might just have my husband create a MDE to get around calling. Calling is a pain. Thanks for the idea!

Does it usually take 24 hours to be able to link reservation to MDE? I booked about 10 hours ago but wont link i just use confirmation number right?

I know that when they investigate they will be able to see your old rate. Plus you probably still have the confirmation email that shows the old rate. If you didn't change anything (date, number of adults, room type) they have to honor your rate. I'm sure they will fix it for you.

It didn't take long for me. I made my reservation and linked it right away. Maybe there's another issue. Are you trying to enter your 9 digit Starwood confirmation number?

It's all a matter of negotiation... I'm pretty sure the Swan/Dolphin could pay into any Disney benefit they want to provide for their guests.

DME doesn't really benefit them... their incentive to lock people into the Disney bubble just isn't as strong (for example).

I did add an adult because when I called to book it,even though I told the lady 2 adults, she put it in as one. I didn't notice until a couple weeks later, so I called to fix it, but even after doing so, my original rate was still showing up. And anyway, going from 1-2 adults doesn't cause a rate change anyway. So I don't think it was that. I added the second adult like 2 weeks ago. My rate changed only a couple days ago.

You're right. The rate would only change had you added a third adult and I could've explained that more clearly.im sure it will be resolved for you.

I've been going thru the same thing for the past couple months but have called countless times and hours trying to fix it. I was given the tip to use your phone app to make the dining ADRs and any modifications and it does work on the phone. The "paws" message only shows up online. Hope this helps.... Good luck I know it's frustrating.

Yes- just tried again and it is not working. Is there another number I am supposed to use?

You could try calling the hotel directly and see if they have another confirmation number you could try. My Starwood confirmation number worked no problem but maybe they will know what to do. I have always found in house reservations to be very helpful. Now they're only going to be open normal office hours Monday to Friday. If you call after hours you end up at central reservations and they won't be able to help.

I was able to easily link mine. I made the SWAN reservation about 2 days ago and just now got around to adding it to MDE, but it immediately found it.

I got it to work. Thanks! Anyone know if I can call and make payments like I can with Disney resort, so that we can have it paid off before we go?
