Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

Anyone here with Bonvoy status, what are the odds of an upgrade for Gold status members (or even Platinum)? I've booked for next September for a week on points.
Hard to predict the general philosphy is to book what you want, if you're okay with what you book then its good but if you count on an upgrade you might be disappointed if you don't get it.
Staying at Dolphin in February. Booked through Disney. I can see my hotel stay on the MDE app, but is there a way I can link it to my Bonvoy account and see it there too?
You can try calling during the day, want to call the # number not the reservation line. In-House reseervations should be able to get you the confirmation number for your Bonvoy account.
4. Don't count on Picabu being open until midnight. I found out the hard way that it sometimes closes early.
On our 2017 trip we were so looking forward to it, while it was open it was all carb heavy food so we skipped and had a snack in our room instead. We ate there every morning which they did their omelette station 24/7 :)

Definitely agree. Unfortunately, Marriott only allows you to book one room type on points.

What is the current complimentary breakfast offering for Platinum members at Swan, Dolphin and.. Swan Reserve? Thanks

I have several trips booked this year and next to both the Swan and Dolphin. Have not had any problems with the reservation #'s pulling to the Disney site until last week. Booked a February trip through Bonvoy app. Tried for over a week to pull the confirmation number to Disney app. Finally called Disney Friday. Was on hold for 3 hours. Very nice cast member tried to help. She couldn't find the reservation #. She sent an email to Marriott. Hopefully it will get straightened out.

So, since I'm in this thread answering questions, I think I will give a rundown of my recent Dolphin stay. If you don't want to read this entire post, here are my take-aways:
1. If you are waiting for a room ready notification, check the Bonvoy app and see if there is a room number showing. If there is, your room is ready. If you want to get into your room, go to the check in desk and get keys. My room was ready around 2PM, but didn't get the room ready text and mobile key until after 7PM.
2. Take the Swolphin bus to AK. Much less walking than going to Yacht or Boardwalk, and the buses are nice!
3. Utilize the Extra Evening Hours, it's a great perk!
4. Don't count on Picabu being open until midnight. I found out the hard way that it sometimes closes early.

For those willing to read on, here is all the info on my recent stay.
I was booked for 3 nights, arriving on Monday, Oct 25 and checking out Thursday, Oct 28. I did online check in on Sunday night and set my arrival time for 11:30AM in hopes of having a room ready when I got there. I actually got there around 11:15 so since I hadn't received notification that my room was ready, I went to the check in desk in hopes of getting into a room sooner rather than later.

The person checking me in was very nice and friendly and told me that there was a room available but it didn't have a great view. If I didn't mind waiting, she could put me in a room with a better view. I opted to wait, but ended up regretting that decision. Did all the check in stuff - showed my ID, credit card, and my annual pass (I had booked a passholder rate). Was told I would get a notification when my room was ready and access to digital key.

I decided to go to Epcot, so I handed my luggage off to Bell Services and went on my way. Stayed at Epcot until close to 5PM. Still had not gotten a room ready notification, but there was a room number showing in the Bonvoy app. I was not able to access digital key, so reluctantly went back to check in desk. Ended up waiting in line for about 30 minutes before being helped. Was told that my room was indeed ready. Had to do the whole check in process again. When I protested that I had already done all that, the person said he had to at least see my photo ID. That was understandable, so no issue with that.

Was given physical key cards for the room, which was 8202.
The room had a very nice view of the pool area, but it was alllllll the way at the end of a very long hallway. Ugh!! Thought about going to see if I could get a different room but didn't want to stand in line again.

The room had 2 double beds, was clean and in good condition. Decided to call Bell Services to get my luggage sent up, so picked up the phone, but there were no individual buttons for bell services, front desk, etc. Looked at my claim ticket to see if there was a number on it. Nope, no number. Looked around the room for information and found nothing. No way was I going to make that long walk to the lobby and back! Looked on the Swan/Dolphin app and the Bonvoy app and again, nothing. Swan/Dolphin app has a text us feature, so used that and they took care of notifying Bell Services to bring my luggage up. Are all the phones like that? How are people supposed to contact anyone for service? Why even have a phone in the room if you have to use the app on your own phone for everything? Maybe I just had an odd phone in my room?

Got my luggage in short order and decided to just stay in for the rest of the night rather than going back to Epcot. Had wanted to utilize the Extended Evening Hours for Deluxe/DVC guests, but was just too tired. Grabbed dinner from Picabu and a bottle of wine from Fuel.

Interestingly, I received a notification on my phone at 7:22PM that my room was ready and digital key was available!!

Another odd thing about my room had to do with the coffee maker. There was a counter in the entryway area that held the coffee maker and coffee supplies. There was a light above this area and a switch on the wall for the light and also an electrical outlet to plug in the coffee maker. After many, many tries to get the coffee maker to work, I finally figured out that the light switch had to be on in order for the coffee maker to work . I don't recall ever having that issue before, so not sure if it was just unique to this room or if they are all this way. Any one else have experience with this?

On Tuesday, I decided to go to Animal Kingdom. I'm not a morning person, so headed to Dolphin bus stop around noon. Y'all, there were 2 Animal Kingdom buses just sitting there. Jumped on the first bus and we were off to the Swan and then to AK. I believe buses used to go to Swan first and then Dolphin, so this seems to be a change. The bus was very nice, even had padded seats! This was a regular bus, much like the Disney buses and not a motorcoach. The Swolphin bus stop at AK is in the parking lot, right next to the handicapped parking. I really don't think it was any further away from the AK entrance than the Disney Yacht/Beach bus stop. If you walk to Yacht/Beach or Boardwalk to get a bus to AK, that is a lot more walking than just taking the bus from Swolphin.

On Wednesday, I did utilize the Extra Evening hours at MK and it was fantastic! I don't ride the mountains, so can't comment on the wait for those, but everything I did was a walk on other than Peter Pan and that was a 15 minute wait. This is a great perk and I highly recommend taking advantage of it! There were a lot of people still in the park, but very few in the ride lines. They do scan your magic band or ticket at the entrance to each ride to make sure you are eligible for the extra hours. I left early, around 10:30 and took the Yacht/Beach club bus because I wasn't sure if Swolphin had buses running for the extra hours. I would think they would, but didn't want to take the chance of going to the TTC and not having a bus.

My plan was to grab some food from Picabu since I didn't eat while at MK. By the time I got back to the Dolphin, it was around 11:25 and Picabu was already closed, despite having posted hours until midnight. Passed several other people also looking to get food here. Ended up doing a mobile order from my room. This option is available until 11:59PM. It only took about 15 minutes for my order to arrive. Everything is packaged as a to go order and brought to your room in a bag.

All-in-all it was a great trip despite a couple of missteps. Looking forward to the next trip!
We were there in Sept. and I did the on-line check in but we got there around 2 so I went to the front desk. Waited in line about 15 min. and did the check in, room wasn't ready so off to Epcot (we had a 5 month old with us). Around 4:30 or 5, the baby was hot and tired so I texted through the app. and got a message my room was ready with the room number and that I could use the mobile key on my phone. Ummmm, no I couldn't, I couldn't get it to pull up no matter what I did. They told me when I checked in the first time I could just go to any of the check in desks when I got the room ready text to get my keys since even had I decided to use the mobile key I would still need physical keys for the other two adults. Of course, there were only two people working on checking people in with long lines at all of them, so I stood in line again. They really need to work on that mobile key thing or put someone at the concierge desk. I'm a Bon Voy member but only Silver Elite so all I usually get is a thanks for being a member from the check in person when I check in. A separate line would be nice.

Looking at the coffee makers at Dolphin, I can safely say it will be worth it to us to order room service coffee in the mornings - something I regularly do at hotels that offer it. Has anyone used room service recently? The Swan Dolphin website says they have it.

I had the same issue with a res I made last Friday. I called Disney on Wed and the agent I spoke with put me on hold for about 20 minutes while she consulted with someone to get it fixed. She came back and told me I was all set and that it should link soon. I waited a couple of days and still nothing so i called back. After another 2 hour hold, got another agent who attempted to look up the reservation. This time she told me they couldn't see it and suggested I call the Swan directly and have them resend the reservation.

Although i was a little skeptical, I called the Swan, got through to the front desk and told them was I was told by Disney. Whoever I spoke to, seemed to know exactly what i was talking about and transferred me to the appropriate person. They pulled up my reservation and "resent" it to Disney. They told me it would take up to 24 hours before I could link it but I was able to do so within 4 or 5 hours.

So long story short, you might try calling the Swan/Dolphin and have them resend your reservation. Sounded to me like that is something they regularly do.

I had a similar issue and wasn't able to use the confirmation number that was emailed to me. I called the Swan front desk, and the staff there was able to find my reservation and give me a different number to link to MDE. It took maybe 20 minutes to resolve everything, so now it all lines up in MDE.

Last week room service was 45-60 minute wait, and that was right at dinner opening.Opted to run down to fuel instead.

For those who like a specific coffee, I’d encourage you to travel with a small, inexpensive french press and your own coffee. Game changer.

Ikea has ones for $8 or $9.

Live stream from Food & Wine Classic at Swan/Dolphin

There is a thinly-veiled hint about fireworks at 9:45 tonite from the grand opening of a new resort hotel. Check this link at 9:40 tonite for a live stream from the top floor of the Reserve for a special fireworks show to celebrate the new property.

ETA - The fireworks are from Harmonious at EP, with the music piped in. I am thinking that guests partaking at Amare will be able to watch the show.

Stream of Harmonious from top floor of the Reserve

Post fireworks, the views from the outdoor observation deck are shared.

FYI - The videos can be viewed thru the links

The Chip & Company Live Stream was good to see and get a sense. Based on so many people in the venue, it's a good sign that the hotel will be opening soon.

How would you get hot enough water in the room?

I’ve always wanted to give the JW or the WA a shot, but not on this trip. I’m going down for the W&D half marathon and the entire trip is centered around that. 2:30 AM runner busses and all.
Do you know if Swan Reserve (or Dolphin/Swan) will have morning busses to the Wine Dine Races?

Call the Swan Dolphin direct, 407-934-4000, M-F 8-5 and ask for in-house reservations, they can resolve it for you. Calling the reservations line will dump you over to the Bonvoy team that can't help you.

That’s fine by me. As long as we have a room at the S/D and don’t have to sleep in the lobby!
I was told by Marriott that regardless of status/level, if they do not have availability at the Swan/Dolphin, they will not be offering re-accommodations.
From what I can see, most are being re-booked though, so it looks like they have availability thus.
