Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

I just found out I can't get groceries delivered to the Dolphin. I was going to get a towncar that stops at a grocery store, but none seem to have 3 toddler seats available and I don't feel comfortable with my kid in a booster yet. Are there places around WDW where I can get some grocery items?? Can I ship food to myself at the Dolphin? I will do some as carry ons.
The Screen Door on the Boardwalk, just a very short walk from the S/D, carries a pretty reasonable amount of foods, at not too bad a price.

Here are photos of it.

Personal Pantry at S/D may be a choice.

This may be of help also.

There will be charges at S/D for receiving shipped packages based on weight.

You could also check with the S/D's own towncar service, seeing if they have 3 child seats.

I've had other things shipped no problem but never groceries. They have a few things in the cafeteria that's 24 hours for purchase as well.

You DON'T want to have things shipped to the hotel unless absolutely necessary. I stayed at the Swan on my birthday several times, and once my husband mailed my birthday card to the hotel. I had to pay ~ $3 to get my card from business services!

Does anyone know if they charge the 13% 'service' charge on packaged good at Picabu also, or is it just on what is purchased in the cafeteria line?

Hi Dan and everyone, I will checking into the Swan tomorrow through Feb 3rd for a visit with my parents. If you see a redhead with two elderly yet spry people....take a chance and say Hi! I will report back on the state of the rehab when I return.

Hi Judy. Great to 'see' you. No Kinz or Dave?

Hoping you and your spry folks all have a great time, please say hello to them both for me.

We are staying in a Swan executive suite in May. Does anyone know what the views are for the executive suites and if it will have been renovated? Our reservation says "Resort View" but I don't know exactly what that means. Thanks!

Our past resort views have been views of the Boardwalk lake and Spaceship Earth.

Just out of curiosity, what are the "rack rates" at the Swan and Dolphin?

The recipe club always has a special offer for 50% off rack rate but it doesn't seem to be even 15% off the regular rate. :confused3

Thanks, Dan.

That's exactly where I was looking, but the "recipe" rate is less than 15% off the standard rate on their booking website. I actually think 50% is too much of a discount, but it seems a bit ridiculous that they advertise 50, but you really only get 15. Maybe I'm completely misreading it.

I thought perhaps they had inflated "rack rates" somewhere so they could advertise the 50% discount.

It may actually be, though not in so many words, 50% off their maximum rack rates? Not sure how it works. :confused3

My husband has a business trip coming up. We are going to drive down from New York State to Disney World. I have two children, a 12 year old boy and a 8 year old girl. We went to Disney last when she was 4 and my son was 8 in late January. No crowds then. We will be going from 8/9 to 8/14, maybe stay one extra day so my husband can do Disney too. We get the hotel room totally for free and we also get paid mileage for driving down, along with my husband getting reimbursed for his meals. I have questions about the hotel and Disney World.

1. Do we get a mini fridge in the room? I want to buy food to put in it and eat breakfast and lunch in our room. We can also bring a mini fridge from home if need be? Can we use that fridge in room?

2. I saw on the swan and dolphin website that if your child brings a report card with straight A's and shows it, they then get 20% off meals at the hotel. Is this true? My son gets straight A's but my daughter’s report card doesn't have letter grades, only numbers. Can she get the discount too?

3. I am afraid of the crowds that week. Our main cost will be Disney tickets. I was thinking of doing only two days at Disney. One day seeing cirque du soleil, another day doing Downtown Disney, and also pool days. What else can we do besides Disney. I have a minivan to get around in. Can do Sea World also. Is that just as crowded? I saw that if I do more than two days at Disney, that I might as well do 4 or more because there isn't as much of a cost difference. How many days is recommended? We will likely get to do this trip again. Next time my husband’s conference will probably be in February for Disney a year or two out from now. I would rather do more days then. Also we are visiting In-laws the week after Disney, in Florida. They are only a 20 minute drive from the beach. This does not need to be an intense Disney World trip. Just want a little taste of it all.

My thoughts:
1. Rooms do have a mini-fridge. Doubt you can bring your own.
2. The cost to add on an additional day or days at Disney is substantially less than adding a day at Seaworld. I assume both places will be hot and crowded.
3. I recommend just calling the dolphin about the meal discounts.

Forgive me if I'm asking questions that have been answered and I missed them.

1) do you get magicbands (if you pay for them) sent to you upon making reservations?
2) how do you link them to MDE (S/D people can use MDE correct?)
3) once ressie made do you get the 180 + 10 dining res availability?

No Magic Bands unless you order them from the Disney Store online or purchase at the resort giftshops.

In the past I have used existing Magic Bands from previous trips and just linked new tickets to them. I'm pretty certain that when you receive ones that you've ordered you will have a number to add them to your existing MDE account

Not sure about 180+10 as we never make plans that far out ;)

No 180+10 for Swan and Dolphin, just 180 days.
