Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

What are the options for staying in one room with 2 adults and 4 children?
I would like to use points but they won't go very far if I am reserving two rooms for every night.

Also, has there been discussion somewhere on how to build points up quickly once you are past the initial card acceptance promotion?

Thanks!

I would consider an executive suite at the dolphin with a king bed in one room and 2 doubles in the other. This will cost 10000 points and $200 per night. You will also get 5 nights for the price of 4 (at least for the points). Total is 40k points and $1000 (plus all the taxes and fees), which I think is pretty good for a 1 bedroom suite on property for 5 nights.

I don't have any specific strategies, since the point accumulation is simply 1for $1. Unfortunately I just spend lots and lots of money. Not a great strategy...

Have been referred over to this thread as we are having trouble linking our MDE with our reservation at the Swan in September...please see the post I have below as any help will be welcome..

We are booked to stay in the Swan at the end of September for 2 weeks. We have set up the MDX information and have been trying to join our hotel reservation to it. As we are staying at the Swan, we get to book food and FP+ etc 60 days before we go (which is fine) however we are just at the moment trying to connect our actual hotel reservation to the MDX but it won't let us.

We called Thomson who told us we had to get a different booking reference to enable us to add it to MDX so we called Disney, they said that they couldn't give us the reference yet as Thomsons don't send over reservations until just before we go which means it would be after the 60 days when we are supposed to be able to start booking FP+!!. We went back to Thomsons who then told us that we couldn't add our hotel reservation until 60 days before also (the same as the FP+). From speaking to people on here however, I'm being told we still should be able to add our hotel to MDX now.

I know this isn't a massive thing and I know that just adding the hotel isn't a key thing unlike booking FP+ etc but we still want to be able to add it for peace of mind.

Can anyone clarify for us? :confused3

If you booked with a travel agent you may have to use their phone number that they used when booking the reservation to get it to show up. I know that mine did not show automatically and I believe that was what I had to do. I know mine is showing up now and I believe that's what I did

I just booked a Deluxe Alcove Room on points and they told me the max. number of people in the room was 3, 2 adults and 1 child. Has anyone else come across this? My kids are 2 and 5 so I am not too worried this go around but when the 2 year old is older we will need her in the reservation to get fastpasses.

Hi all! I've been away from the boards for a while, but with all of the changes at Disney, find myself searching for answers.

I was trying to set up a "My Disney Experience" account and it could not find my Dolphin reservation. I know people have said it will link, but I'm wondering if that's only if you book through Disney reservations or something? We are booked directly through the Dolphin.

Anyone have any luck linking if you reserved directly by calling the Swan/Dolphin?

TIA!

We stayed in one of these rooms 2 years ago at the Dolphin. As long as your children are small, I would think four could fit comfortably. When they are older, not so much. The sleeper sofa is not very large.

I booked right on the Dolphin website and it appeared the next day on my MDE, so it should work automatically, but many people have posted otherwise.

First, did you try entering the 9 digit reservation number in the "Link Resort Reservations" in the "My Reservations" section of MDE? If that doesn't work, or if you can't locate the number, call the Dolphin.

Can I ask what TIA means?

Well hello, Sue!!! Hope all is well. Great to see you again!!! :wave2:

Sue, this was my experience also. You do need the nine digit number and if you do not have it, call the Dolphin reservation office, they will give it to you.

TIA is 'thanks in advance'.

Not a matter of waiting--made the reservation more than a week ago. MDX says it can't find the number.
OK, thanks guys. Guess I'll call tomorrow.

Good to "see" you again, too, Dan. Hope you're well

I am trying to use Starwood points for the Swan. There will be 3 adults and one child. The online sit is telling me that there is a maximum of 2 adults in the room. How can that be with two queen beds? Any way around this?

I just noticed you said "9 digit number". Mine is only 7 digits....Guess there's the problem

All is well, Sue. Had a knee replacement in Oct, doing well, thanks.

I would call the resort reservation desk.

Yes, give them a call and ask them for a 9 digit number.

I am having trouble finding the following information:

What are the dimensions of the crib mattress? I'll need to bring my own sheets as my son has several allergies to detergents. Also, is there a fee for the crib?

Are the washers in the laundry facility high efficiency? I'll need to bring my own detergent so just wondering.

Thanks so much!

We stayed at the Swan last December on points. We received a recently refurbished (Refurb very fresh and crisp. Nice rooms.) balcony room with a great view of Illuminations. My mom hit Platinum a day into our stay, and the Swan waived the resort fee for the nights she had the status, which was nice of them. We had a great time and enjoyed the Swan, so my mom used points to book part of our trip this October. Yesterday, she requested all her suite nights for this reservation. SPG won't process suite night upgrades until 5 days before check-in, but I thought I'd ask here if anyone's had success using their suite night benefit at the Swan? I've seen online that, in general, suite night redemptions requests aren't often successful. Thanks!

PS the washing machines at the Dolphin are regular top-loaders. :)

Thinking about staying at the Swan in April of 2016. In-laws will be at the Boardwalk. We are eligible for various discounts...govt employee, airline employee, AAA....so we should get a good rate.

Car...we will rent a minivan for the six of us. Can I park it at the boardwalk under my in-laws names to avoid parking charges? I need a magic band to get in and out of the lot, right? Maybe I could "borrow" my mother in laws for trips.
