Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

Figure in that ten minute walk from the contemp to mk, when deciding, though.
And to eliminate the 10 minute walk from the Contemporary to the main gate you can order a Minne Van using your Lyft app. Earlier in the thread someone posted that Minnie Vans are now available directly from the Swan & Dolphin. The fee for the Minne Van is a flat $25 for up to 6 passengers and each should have 2 car seats available.

Just wanted to report that today was the start of our 180 ADR booking window. All 6 days of the trip were available to book this morning. (I kind of freaked - wasn't prepared!). But more "yay" for our November trip! (and now I don't have to wake up each day for the next week to try to book)

Congratulations! I have had it both ways--sometimes I can and sometimes I can't--happy it worked in your favor!

Donnie the boat dock will totally be **** from May 14-26. One of the reasons we booked was the boat service especially to EPCOT where we spend most of our time in World Showcase. So now they offer a bus to the front of the park. Not the same. So frustrating as we had no notice on any of these closures. And with our arrive a day out too late to make any changes and get a decent price in property.

You don't have to only catch a bus to the front of EPCOT. You could take a short walk to the Boardwalk dock and catch a Friendship from there to the IG. Return trips from IG and exit at the Boardwalk.

It is much closer walking to the Boardwalk dock than walking to the bus stop, taking a bus to the front of Epcot, walking from the bus to the World Showcase. Same saving on your way back to the Swan & Dolphin.

Note: we are also impacted by this change and I was also surprised by the short notice.

I’m there 5/16-5/24 and I am not happy about the loss of the boats myself. I like to save my legs for the parks, and I’m loathe to admit that I’m no spring chicken anymore. Plus I just flat out enjoy riding the boat. That boat and the monorail are two of my favorite WDW rides. LOL!

That said, the walk to the Boardwalk boat stop is a breeze, and Epcot is only one stop from there. You’ll be OK.

So I wound up booking the Swan For August for cash and points. I’m still mad at myself for not booking the Hotwire deal! I’m essentially paying the same price as Hotwire but have to use points as well. I’m paying $100/night (plus resort fees) and 6,000 points.
I’m glad I booked when I did though bc a few hours later I checked, and the option for cash and points was gone.
Just wanted to post in case anyone else was oooking for cash and points further out!

I think they’re gearing up for the Toy Story Land crowds.
Because of this, I’m surprised at all of the August/September deals that are available. I guess that had a ton of empty rooms, but I would think that Toy Story Land would’ve had them packed...

I've always read that canceling with David's isn't possible. Did the policy change?

Cancellation is possible, but there is a fee for doing so. Of course, if you purchased the cancel for any reason trip insurance, I believe you are able to do so with no or minimal cost.

Wait, you're able to CANCEL a reservation with David's? This I did not know....

You are both correct. You CAN NOT cancel a confirmed DVR rental reservation. However the poster must have had a pending request that had not been "matched" or completed so would only lose the $112 initial partial payment or had very good Travel Insurance. Here is the relevant quote from David's site:

Cancellation Policy
Due to the complexity of the point system and the fact that Owners may have to bank or borrow points in order to secure your reservation, cancellations, upgrades and date modifications are not permitted. The lead guest name must also remain the same due to a rental agreement between the guest and the owner, however, you are permitted to add or delete the additional guests listed in the room with you.

You may want explore the possibilities of adding Travel Insurance to protect yourself against unexpected situations. I do not provide this insurance, but you can obtain a very reasonable quote here: Travel Insurance Quote

The $112 part payment is only refunded if we cannot secure your reservation request. This is the only time a refund will be granted.
