Walt Disney World Planning Failure

Hello All, I have been trying to plan a vacation for May 1, 2021 , and I do realize it's way far off but I need to budget money for it all . I have been trying for the last two days to find out how much a 10 day ( 1 park, NOT park hoppers) ticket would be for 3 adults. I have called AAA, and Disney and asked but neither could tell me round about what the cost would be. I was wondering if anyone here might know about what the tickets were this pass May 1st so I could at least have a starting point to go by? TIA

Ticket pricing for May 2020 is currently available on the Disney website. You should be able to look at 2020 pricing, assume that the prices will go up a bit, and have a target number for budgeting.

If you asked Disney or any other entity what the approximate price would be in 2021, nobody would be able to tell you - and they wouldn't give you a guess because there are some people who would consider a verbal estimate like that to be a promised amount, which could get the CM in trouble down the line. Truthfully we have no idea what kind of price increases will happen between now and 2021, but if you assume a 10% increase in prices over what the tickets would cost in 2020, you are pretty likely to have enough (if not more than enough) money saved to cover their cost.

I am in a similar situation with a long range plan. I am using the current ticket price as a base and adding 10% to that and then and additional 10% over that number to attempt to account for price increases.

I'm pricing tickets on the Disney website for September 2020 and there is a calendar and pricing for those dates. You can order for those dates with today's prices as long as you purchase the tickets before any price hikes?

as of 2020 march the are 53$ per person per day if your buying 10. soooo assume maybe 60$ for 2021?

Tickets expire after the period for which you purchased them has passed. IOW, you cannot purchase a ticket for September 2020 and use it for admission in September 2021. You don’t lose your money because you can still redeem the expired ticket toward the purchase of a new ticket. What you can’t do anymore is purchase a ticket and hold onto it for years until you want to use it.

Yes, I just wanted to make sure that I can buy tickets now on the Disney website at the quoted price for use for the date I choose as my check in date. Someone was saying that the 2020 prices weren't out yet. I'm assuming that they meant that we don't know what the price hike will be and that info was for people who be purchasing their tickets after that date.

You can buy the tickets now, but just be aware that they will expire, and when the 2021 prices come out, you won't be "grandfathered in" at the lower price - you will have to pay the difference between what you bought the tickets for and their actual, 2021 price to convert them into valid tickets closer to your trip.

I would venture to say that there has already been a price hike. It was just done very quietly. Notice that the cost of a 3-day base ticket from for the same dates in September 2020 are about $1 -$3 per day more than the 2019 prices.

Last time we went to Disney was 10 years ago , back then I bought tickets though AAA 2 years in advance , I see those day are long gone. Would have been nice to just get the tickets and know at least one thing was paid for. So many things have changed , even the way we can book a reservations for Fort Wilderness has changed , looks like they are doing different pricing for different days/ seasons and events . I could use a workshop on Disney planning now, haha .

We are going January 2021. I put together a trip for January 2020 and tacked on about 10% and I'm budgeting for that.

I am going to attempt to do the same. I can basically figure out in my head about how much we would need for everything , not a pretty figure but I do love planning , lol.

You are an angel so I suspect May of 2021 will be about 1800 maybe , lol ...maybe more

You are right, forgot about that , no worries I will just take out a second mortgage, j/k haha

It's based on how busy they think they will be. One day I checked and it was 109. Comser to the day I did it again and it was 129. Disneyland is $149 after recent price increase. I would add $100 total for the week. If it's not that much you have more spending $$$.

They do quiet price hikes on the room rates now too. Little at a time. No telling what we are missing that they are doing this with.

so I have a question, actually two... I'm sorry as I'm probably asking something that has been posted again and again,
1. I have two MYW tickets one was a 4 day park hopper from 2004 (it doesn't say no expiration on the back) and a 3 day park hopper pass from 2005 with no expiration. How do I figure out if there is any admission left on them? Call Disney??
2. We're going in April 2020... I should probably buy our tickets now?? and not wait for a "special price" to come out? Do they even have specials for that time of year?
thanks for your help, I really do appreciate it!
