Walt Disney World Free Dining Promotion coming soon?

Free dining became available today! Anyone looking to book it probably already knew that. Lol
Not in the cards for us this year. (Nov 4-12). It was nice having it last year. This year we'll be cooking at the cabin. I'll make some muffins and pepperoni rolls and pack some goodies in my bag. We fly southwest so we get free checked bags.
We can't wait to be back!

That sounds like fun :)

The DW found out about the DDP announcement yesterday. She immediately jumped on it to see the details. I am not a DDP fan. To me the only value is that we don't have to worry about how we are going to pay for our meals (As they are paid in advance). But since we don't spend EVERY day in the park (or even on property), it's hard to get the value out of it. Plus it's a lot of food. More food then we need.

Alas the DW still is checking it. We will miss the August date all together. We will be there during the "Second" set of November dates, but not Arriving on the "open" dates (in November). I told her to call and see if we are even eligible. (She stated the number is constantly busy... Go Figure!) I don't think we will be eligible, but even if we are, I think we need to do the math before she jumps on it.

Things are getting a little chippy over at the Dining forum area over the free dining offer and its limited availability. Main complaint is Disney didn't discount very many standard (cheap) types of rooms nor in very many lower priced resorts.

And the people that speculated with a room-only reservation (despite being told repeatedly on the forum that what they wanted to do couldn't be done) are upset that they can't just "add" dining to their existing reservation but that it requires a complete cancellation of the old reservation and booking of a new one (which isn't available any longer).

Or like we saw on the room-only back to school discount offer, saying the deal is available "most nights" or with "limited availability" on said nights is news to some. They seem to expect to apply the deal to any available room.

We all know the angle from both points of view. And in some cases even campers may opt for FD. At least it's kicked the "throw-away" room topic to the back burner.

Totally agree with you Ed. I looked at both the "Back to school" Discount and the FD. We aren't eligible for the Discount. (Our dates are outside of the range) but I had an interesting "Chat" with a CM who was adamant that the discounts don't ever apply to the Campsites at Fort Wilderness. (I see they are very careful at using the "FULL" and proper names. I can certainly understand why though). But I directed her to the page where it was indeed listed. She actually had to get a manager to tell her that it was correct. I guess that just re-affirms the "almost NO discounts" for the campsites.

My DW is also looking at the FD and seeing if it's possible (or even worthwhile). Either way, When we booked our trips, we didn't do it "Hoping" for a discount. We took what we got when we booked it and expect to pay that. If we can get a discount or bonus along the way.... Great. If not, no sour grapes for us. It's amazing how many people are "Gambling" on their vacations and get mad when they throw the snake eyes!
