Walt Disney and Roy Disney Suite

How many people have stayed in the Walt or Roy Disney Suite (cat 1 and 2)? Was it worth the money you paid? Did you get special treatment? Where exactly are those suites located? I would love to stay in one, but know that there is no way i can afford it so just hearing what it is like will have to do

I haven't been in them but they are located on deck 8, near the midship elevators and the cost is very high.

I have booked a Cat 3, for the 2009 Eastern cruise, on August 15th, and the cost is a premium of about $3k/$4k above Cat 4 for that cruise. Cat 2 or Cat 1 would be higher.

We are booked for the Roy Disney suite in October, 2009. We originally settled on a category 2 and were wait listed for either the Walt or the Roy. When the call came in that the Roy was available, it was only approximately $700 more so, we switched. When all is said and done, the cost is approximately 12K. There will be three adults and one four year old traveling in this room. We are all very excited but are afraid of being spoiled and never wanting to return to any other category. (This will be our first DCL cruise).

Friends of ours have stayed in the Roy Suite (twice) and have it again for our cruise in Sept. 2008. It really is a great stateroom. The balcony is huge....enough so that they always have the sailaway party in their room with about five families with children. It's a blast!

We have the Roy booked for our Sept. 2009 cruise and like Queenie16, we got the call and moved from a Cat. 2. We are a family of 5 (2 adults 3 children) and we usually book the midship Cat. 3s. This will be a nice change for us. Queenie16, You will be spoiled!!

Andrew, I see you are coming over to the "suite side"!!! You know, it will be difficult to go back to Cat. 4, you are going to be spoiled! I hope DCL is planning to put more suites on those two new ships because more people are being converted to the "suite life" every day.

We've cruised in the Walt once and in the Roy once, and a Cat 2 twice.
You do get some special treatment, but not really any more special than in the Cat 3's that we've stayed in also.
In my opinion, the only reason it is worth the extra money is if you have a larger family or a group of adults who need the extra space and bathrooms.
It really is true that the best part of the ship is what's going on all over the ship, not the stateroom.

My son and I are cruising in a Cat 5 for our next trip, and the idea of "going down" in category doesn't bother me at all. There are only the two of us this time, we don't need the extra space, and the price was right!

The balconies in those suites are longer, but they aren't any deeper than the others. I like the rooms in the far aft that have the larger, deeper balconies myself.


I have a feeling (and I hope I find out it's true!) that everyone, no matter what stateroom they're in, is treated really well on DCL.

We have done the aft Cat 3 also. I have to agree the verandah is wonderful. We loved the room and had a great time.

We are dreaming about a Cat 1 someday- maybe in a few years when our kids are gone and married we can take them on a cruise again.

Our close friends have had the Roy and the Walt and we've spend time in both. Our turn is this summer when we have the Roy for back2backs (too back it's only a 4day and a 3day - but then nut sure I'd want to spend $$$ for b2b 7 days!). We travel with a big group and enjoy having a glass of wine before dinner together. The suite is perfect.

We have stayed in the Roy and Walt suites and also a cat 3. This was our first time in a cat 3 and that is great depending on how many people you have. the cat 1s are wonderful for the extra room. I thought you did get some special treatment and some extras with the suite, but not a lot-so for everyone it is a personal thing. we love having more than 1 bathroom, and room to spread out and more than 1 tv because my husband and son fight over it--yes on a cruise with so much else to do--it drives me crazy!!

Yes CAT 4 for the repo this year and CAT 3, for 2009, I am looking forward to it, it would have been nice to have the extended verandah for The Panama crossing, but our Cat 4 will be fine.

Its a bit like flight seats, once you upgrade to Premium or upper class/ Club world, you cannot go back.

I am sure we will enjoy the Suite in 2009.

We visited one of these (cannot remember which) on our Med cruise as one of the group had booked this. Must say I was most disappointed and would not waste my money on this. Very dark wood which made the rooms claustrophobic and although the balcony is long it is still the same width as the other category ones. We did also visit a 1 bedroom disabled suite and this was beautiful. Two large balconies and so light.

Personally would rather save my money to another cruise.

Well the time has come, we booked a 7 day land and sea that actually starts in WDW the morning of January 1. We will be spending 3 days land and 4 days sea. We are sooooo excited and there will be a party on the first night in our suite (Walt) for all that want to come.

The ONLY complaint I have is that we must stay in the Grand Floridian. I know that I could get around it by booking separate but I did not want to bother. I just think it is short sited on Disney to not let you pick a resort. But...with that said we are really looking forward to the trip.

Well Enjoy your Cat 1, I must say I prefer Polynesian and contemporary to GF, -Cat 3 for me next year.
