Do any of you guys buy christmas decorations at either Kmart or Walmart?

Which store has better quality merchandise? Better prices?

Thanks for any opnions!

Susy

I dont like either one..I buy our stuff at hardware type stores....

I DESPISE Wal-Mart....and theKmarts here dont have much selection....we have a place called Rural King here...i like it for chirstmas supplies.

We have a store called Uncle Joe's Woodshed and I go there every year on Dec. 26th (along with a million others- LOL) and buy everything half off. It's excellent quality and this store has everything you could imagine. Including an entire city that is HUGE of Dickens houses and extras for the villiage.

I hate Walmart too, and shop there maybe once every 2 or 3 years. I just don't think they're cheaper than other stores, and I hate the way they treat their employees and I feel they take great advance of cheap labor in parts of the world that aren't as developed. I just feel it's bad business for America all around. I hate the way they go into the various cities and towns across the country, undercut every other store to put them out of business, then raise their prices. This has been well documented that they do this.

BTW: I recently read that both Target and Kmart have a labor union to protect their employees. I can't verify that it's a fact, but it makes me feel better shopping at both of them. Personally, I find Kmart to be more expensive than Target, so I rarely go into Kmart too.

We don't have Kmarts anymore, but I never really cared for their Xmas decor. WalMart is okay, though I avoid going there...

I have the best luck at Target, Garden Ridge, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc. I was at Hobby Lobby today and they already have ornaments out =) I got giddy!!!

I get most of mine at Target and Kohls. Haven't been to a Kmart in years and I also refuse to shop at Walmart.

Target all the way. I bought those light up deer last year at a great price. They were sturdy and did well.

Be prepared....there are a lot of people on here who truly despise Wal-Mart.

Personally, I like all 3, although K-Mart closed down in our town about a year ago. I bought my pre-lit Christmas tree there simply because they had the best price. If it's a large item like that, I'll shop around. For the smaller stuff, I usually just go to whichever is closer/more convenient. If you've got the time and enjoy looking at Christmas decorations, just got to both (or all 3) and price-compare.

Wow! Are we already talking about Christmas?!  :p

I have to vote for Target and Michael's. (got my tree at Michaels too - pre-lit sucker! heheh)

If I HAD to choose between Kmart/Wal-Mart..I would go to wal-mart. Reason being? The Kmart in my area is so crapped up that I refuse to step foot in the store...the Wal-Mart is only 3 years old...so it's not completely trashed yet.

I just like Target better...the store is more organized, it's MUCH cleaner, and the people are just generally nicer.

K-Mart's Martha Stewart Christmas decor is really nice. My DW bought all kinds of stuff there last year...but, of course, we have a nice K-Mart.

I detest Wal-Mart.

Target is great.

I generally don't like shopping at K-Mart at all but last Christmastime I happened to stop by there and I ended up buying almost all my Christmas decorations there! I got a lovely pre-lit tree for a very good price, and I loved their coordinating sets of accessories. Some of it was kind of tacky but there was plenty of very pretty stuff too, and the prices were good, especially during the sales they ran frequently. They carried lots of ornaments that looked like glass but were unbreakable--I had been looking all over for that type of thing (since I have two small boys in the house) and was pleased to finally find those at K-Mart.

Wal-Mart has some nice things too, at reasonable prices, but I felt K-Mart had some more unique and pretty items.

aimeedyan I am so jealous of you that you have a Garden Ridge store. I would give anything to have one in town. the closest one to us in Nashville closed and it broke my heart. I love that store they have great things for the house at really good prices. I have been buying silk flowers from them for years. I'll have to stop in Lousiville when we go through in a couple of weeks and stock up. Have they put their Christmas stuff out yet?

I despise Wal-Mart as well, but we bought a majoritity of our Christmas decorations there last year (the lights, balls, icicles).

I'm a Wal-Mart Junkie so I'll have to go with that. As a kid I remember going there practically every day with my mom. The only thing I've ever liked about K-Mart was when they sold those ham sandwiches. They were the best lol.

Lowes, Menards, Rural King, ect are also good places for Christmas items..especially if you're looking for big things to put in your yard.

This goes back to Christmas 2001. I moved from CA and arrived back with my car about a week before Christmas.

I wanted a pre-lit tree. Almost everystore was sold out of them - except Kmart which had a huge selection.

Walmart not only did not have any trees left - they were basically out of ALL Christmas stuff. I think they plan their inventory not to have anything left.

Nobody was shopping at Kmart so they had everything on sale.

For all your opinions and advise - I really appreciate it!

I hadn't added Target to the mix, but it sounds like the majority prefer Target over Kmart and Walmart. Yes???

Anybody else want to chime in?

Thanks again,

Susy

Neither. I go to Target.

However, if I were to choose...I would go to Wal-Mart. They have boxes of 40 Christmas cards for like $2. My Christmas card list tends to be quite long. If I do go to Wal-Mart, I go well before Christmas. It gets quite busy there the closer it gets to Christmas and the Wal-Mart parking lot is dangerous enough on a regular day! :)
