I want to pick up the $98 TV and several XBox games. I realize I have to be there between 6-7pm. Does anyone know if I have to stand in separate lines or if I can "claim" each item in a single line? Also, can I just get in line by 7pm and have it guaranteed even if I'm at the way back of the line? We are just trying to figure out how to coordinate dinner and still get there in time for those deals!

Thanks!!

If it works anything like it did last year, you will have to be in separate lines. We found that they had a limited quantity of stock on hand, but offered a type of rain check to those who were in line which guaranteed them the item at the same price before Christmas. If I am not mistaken, as long as you are "in line" prior to the cutoff you will get the item (or at least the rain check).

At least, that's how it worked at the WalMart I was in. It may vary a bit from store to store.

Good luck! :thumbsup2

You might only get one of the items per person. Like you cannot get as many Xbox's as you want. If you want 4, you are going to have to have 4 people.

My dd got the IPad last year with the $100 Walmart card. She was number 170 in line and she waited over 2 hours in line. She purchased the IPad and it came in a week later and I had to go to Layaway and pick it up.

I am going for as many things as I can get my hands on and cross off my list. :p

10-12 years ago I went to Walmart on Black Friday. I saw two women fist-fighting over the last bicycle, and while they were rolling around on the ground pounding one another, a third woman came and took the bicycle. I've never gone to Walmart again during this kind of sales event.

OMG! :rotfl2:

My son and I stood in line for the 1 hr guarantee last year (line snaked in/out of the aisles) and witnessed a lady almost knock down one of the shelving units while getting arrested. Apparently she snatched something out of someone's cart and security caught her. Saw several get arrested that night. Crazy!

The way it worked for us is separate lines for separate items. I was waaaay in back of the line for TVs last year and still managed to get one, with plenty still avail. After they run out, they give rainchecks. Also store clerks are staffing the lines to keep track of time frame, so as long as you are standing in line within the hour you're good.

Last year there were multiple fights over a $3 hand-held chopper (as in onion chopper). And sheets. Dear Lord, the sheets!

It is always an adventure.

I thought this just happened at our Walmart! I haven't been since there was a fist fight over prepaid phones and people were standing on top of pallets grabbing $2 towels. Luckily I was already in line checking out, but haven't been back since.

OP, if you want a tv, you'll need backup to get the games. In our Walmart, the tv lines get pretty long, like people come, sit in lawn chairs, bring food, and play cards for hours. Our Walmart is 24 hours though & it is nice to wait in lines inside instead of outside in the snow!

Thanks so much for all the feedback!

Another question -- if I send my 16yo DD to the video game line will she be able to use my credit or debit card OR will they let us come back together with our items to purchase all at once?

I believe you're in line to just get the items (this is what happened to me the other year). You'll still need to go to a checkout line to purchase everything.

We must have the best Wal-Mart ever. My DH has done the Thursday deals a couple of times after dinner is over and our kids are put to bed. He just goes over whenever and everything is always in stock. We bought a TV last year and I think he didn't make it over there until 10 pm or so because we were putting up the Christmas tree. No fights, no pushing, no police! :)

In my experience, it depends on the item (and the WalMart). When I got the iPad 2 last year, I had to pay for it immediately upon receipt. There were other lines where you picked up the item and could pay in the normal checkout line at the front of the store.

WOW. :faint: I do believe you are right!

DW works part-time in the electronics section at our local Walmart. She breathed a heavy sigh of relief when she found out she leaves at 5:00 pm on Thanksgiving day before the mayhem begins!! :cool1:

You are very lucky! There is a Walmart like yours about 15 min from our home but the town has an ordinance that they can't be open on Thanksgiving do they open about 5am on BF.

Was grocery chopping this morning at our Walmart. There is a sign posted that they will be giving people wristbands "earlier in the day" so that you can enjoy your time in the store and do other shopping. Don't know what items will be "wrist-band worthy, I would assume it would be the TV's Ipad-Mini etc.

I did ask specifically if the Ipad-Mini was part of the "in-stock guaranteed program, and it is not. So - no need for me to head out to a bunch of craziness.

What!!! I wonderif the person you asked was mistaken. I just checked Walmart's website and it specificallylists the ipad mini as a guaranteed instock item. :confused3
