Walmart price matching and using coupons

So this morning for the first time at my Walmart the cashier said I was not allowed to use coupons on things I'm pricing matching. Really since when? She said always. Well I didn't make a big deal cause honestly I didn't have any coupons for things I was price matching. But in the past I have used coupons on price matched items, no problem. I just spent a few minutes reading their price matching and coupons policies and I did not see this mentioned anywhere??

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it something new? Just want to be prepared if it comes up in the future. If that's the policy no problem, but I don't see it written anywhere. Thanks

I price match and use coupons (on the same item) all the time at Walmart! Next time ask for a manager (if you feel comfortable taking the time to do so).

The ad match piece of it is Wal-mart's choice, but the coupons you are using are typically manufacturer coupons which Wal-mart is refunded for. The thing that irks me is when cashiers act like you're ripping off Wal-mart (or better yet, they act like it's coming out of THEIR paycheck) when you use a coupon.

I thought savings catcher made price matching automatic? Then you just process the coupons as usual.

Thanks for the replies guys! I think this chick was just trying to discourage me from doing price match. I always do it at the register not by the app cause I want the savings NOW instead of a gift card rewarded to me later. I just wanted to make sure nothing had changed. Wal-Mart probably is losing money on this I've noticed the cashiers giving me a little more grief price matching now. Like they always want to see MY ads, I always have them, but they act like they can't do the match w/o them. Whatever, I'll play their little games until they no longer do price match. And had they changed the policy that I couldn't use coupons too, no problem, I'd go to the store that offered the lower price. I was never a Wal-Mart shopper until this whole price match started. I have the time and all the stores are in a 3 mile radius of each other so no problem making multiple stops if they want to start jacking around with me.ha

Our Walmart is getting horrible on price matching a prompt now pops up saying see ad. Our store has limited price matching to 3 like items.

The Wal-mart app only compares national/large company chain ads from what I have seen. It doesn't match to our Hy-Vee or Fareway stores or even Aldi, which are the 3 I always price match to. So what I do is do all my ad-matching at the store during check-out and then run the receipt through because it will match up to Menards, Dollar General, etc which I don't take the time to go through. I don't get all the ads, only the 3 that come in our local free weekly newspaper that is on Wednesdays. I still have quite a bit of money saved up from the "extra" finds I didn't match up to the larger chains.

I always have a copy of the Wal-mart corporate price match policy in my purse just in case they try to play games. I don't make a huge ordeal out of anything because I don't want to waste people's time behind me, but if there is a question I will gladly pull out the policy.

If you have local stores making their own policies such as "3 items only" or something bizarre like that, I'd take some time to call corporate to find out what is going on. I know they mention store management has the final decision on ad-matching but I'd be letting them know what your concerns are.

As far as the policy states you don't HAVE to have the ad with you, but they reserve the right to ask for the ad to verify. Typically this becomes an issue when the price is over 25% less than the Wal-mart listed price. Supervisor's have to approve 50% price difference as well from what I've found.

Their official policy supposedly states that you can do both. (I've never looked it up, but that's what all the coupon blogs say.) However, our cashiers AND our manager refuse to do it. It makes no sense to me, though. If I'm price matching shampoo because it's $3.00 at Target, then why can't I use a coupon? If I went to Target, it'd be $3.00 without me asking, and I'd be able to use the coupon there with no hassle. This is one of the reasons I avoid Walmart.

As a former Wal-Mart employee it is hard to confirm the policy. Management is NEVER sure themselves. They leave it to the cashiers, when we say no the customer call them to override us. So in the future if you told no by a cashier ASK FOR A CSM!!
Don't worry about holding up a line. MAKE management tell you what their policy is each and every time you visit. As well as each and every store you visit. Wal-Mart will eventually be consistant with their policies.
