We usually make a stop at Walmart for cases of water, iced tea, bagels, spreads, snacks, etc for the room for breakfast, late night, etc. They are usually lacking in the ready-made department, though. I'd like to get egg salad, tuna, etc, for some higher protein breakfasts. Does Walmart carry any of that lately, or is Publix better? Are the prices at Publix much higher?

If you are talking about the Walmart in Orlando, they do have egg salad and such. There is a "supermarket" section there. (more than just "grocery") The price in Publix is much higher unless on sale. I think it's better to pick up everything in Walmart.

I think you may be better off at publix unless you have a full size fridge and a lot of people to feed.

Yes, Walmart is cheaper but I also find it of lesser quality.

Also, I usually see these things at Walmart in large tubs like you'd take to a picnic. Publix has varying smaller sizes that would be better IMO for variety and a small fridge.

As mentioned, I find that Publix has a much better variety of prepared food than Walmart, with higher qualities. The serving sizes are less bulk and geared more towards 1 to 2 people, which is either good for setting portions, or bad if you're trying to load up a family. Their buffalo chicken dip is a particular favorite that I keep in the fridge and use with tortilla chips or pita chips. It's delicious. Also, Publix rice pudding may be among my favorite of any rice pudding out there. I can easily think of numerous different prepared items by the deli department that I really enjoy. I can't think of anything in particular at Walmart.

If you want prepared deli-type foods, Publix is going to be MUCH tastier. WalMart will be cheaper for the most part.

I went to the Wal Mart supercenter on the west end of 192 on my last trip 3 years ago. It was a Saturday night and was FULL of people filling up their condos for the week. The shelves were so empty and people were running around like mad. My wife and I cracked up because it looked like the day before a snowstorm back in Arkansas.

We like the SuperTarget just west of Disney on 192. Publix seems SOOOO expensive for everyday items. Walmart has quality issues. Target is just a bit more expensive, but the quality is closer to Publix than Walmart.

Yea target is a lot better that publix. You just can't beat the prepared meals at publix and they make great sandwiches.

We always go to Publix. We got to WDW once a year, and Cocoa Beach once a year. Both have Publix. I am budget-conscious back home the rest of the year. But on vacation, I splurge on groceries. Our daughter's birthday was over Spring Break in Cocoa. We got the most amazing Ariel/Mermaid birthday cake at Publix. Really pretty, and a big cake, for 1/4 sheet. Like a pp said, I love their Buffalo Chicken dip. The deli section and bakery have some yummy quick ideas for meals.

Use Winn Dixie the publix and Walmart are pretty far away from Disney .Walmart is the cheapest place but Winn Dixie will also be cheaper then Publix and there is one near downtown Disney

I always choose Publix foods over anywhere else, there is one close to Disney if you go out to Osceola Parkway and past the Gaylord Palms hotel, it will be on 192 to the right. However if you want quick the Hess/Speedway stations have breakfast items to go

Whoa. Winn Dixie is still around. I thought they went under. They are no longer in south Florida except for the bad areas. I know there was an old one near my home they shut down because it was dirty and so run down. They replaced it with a whole foods.

There is one at 11957 Apopka Vineland rd it's only a couple of blocks from hotel blvd. It's not bad one I use it because it's the closest place to my house and Goodings is so pricy .

Hands down Publix. If you are buying packaged items like water, soda, chips, go to Walmart to save money. For ready-made bakery items or deli items, there is no way I would buy from Walmart over Publix. No comparison really, Publix is amazing for that stuff. :)

Just don't pick up any Walmart sushi! Apparently, there's a recall (I'm sorry, but I cracked up at the thought of buying sushi from there in the first place; and then it skeeved me. :crazy2: )

Edited to ask: Is there a BJ's or Sams Club nearby? We're renting a house in Kissimmee for a few days with a bunch of people.

Haha. Sushi at Walmart. Mind as well buy sushi at struck stop.

I know there is a Costco not too far from the parks but not too sure about a BJ or a Sams.
