Okay dissers. I need advice. I ordered a 20 in bike for my son on Cyber Monday. Well the package arrived today and it is a preschool table and train set. I've called Walmart.com and spoke to a supervisor who says sorry- bike is out of stock we can't order if for you the only thing we can do is issue a refund or you can wait a few days and see if it comes back in stock and order it then- however you only have a few days to return the incorrect item or else we can't return it- you will be stuck with no bike, no money and a table/train that my 10 y/o doesn't want.
I called corporate and got no where- they don't handle any walmart.com issues.

Suggestions Please. I feel like I ordered a bike, paid for a bike and was promised a bike, I should get my bike.

I don't have any advice but this must happen often!

My son and his wife purchased a crib set and they said it shipped and it never came. They tracked it ...it was 'lost' then when they contacted Walmart they said....oh, it is sold out...Too BAD!

Good luck!

I would keep calling and being a total P I T A until you get what you want! It is clearly their error and you were nice enough to call and tell them you got the wrong order hopefully the person that is waiting for the train table will do the same and you get some supervisor to connect the two of you.

Oh, I will not drop this until I have my bike and for the price I paid.
Unfortunately I'm at work and have already spent 90min on the phone so will have to try again after bit.

Can you contact your CC company and tell them - they may able to help you since it is a charge problem... just a thought - I would not give up and keep calling try and different person... may get a better answer with someone else.

This is Walmart's Return policy for Holiday gifts for both in store and online (I have emailed them to verify this before I purchased this year and received confirmation back):

"As an added convenience for customers, Walmart has adjusted its return policy for the holiday gift buying season for items that have a limited return/exchange period (15 days, 30 days, etc.). For these items purchased between Nov. 1 and Dec. 24, the limited return period will begin Dec. 26. This includes items such as TVs, cameras, computers, DVD and music players that can have a 15-30 day return period."

It was their error. I'd tell them to come get the wrong product they shipped if they want it. They can send UPS for a pickup at your house. If they don't credit your account for the bike that they never shipped contact your credit card company and handle that through them. I'd only give them a few days to do the credit.

In the meantime go get a bike somewhere else. If they don't have, then they can't ship it.

Same thing happened at Target. Ordered a 42 inch TV, and was sent a 24 inch pink one!~Pretty much told too bad because is oos. :(

Walmart.com is awful. Last Christmas, I bought a Visa gift card that I gave to my husband for his birthday (Christmas Eve) to buy himself something. He went to Tanger Outlets about 20 minutes away from our house. And when he went to pay for his items, surprise! The gift card which even had an activation fee, was never activated! I took it to Walmart and they informed me that I had to call customer service. Well after numerous phone calls of being switched from dept. to dept. for a month, finally it was activated! And did they care about the aggravation they caused me? Nope! Because Walmart does not care about it's customers nor their employees.

wow tough crowd lol. i understand you are incredibly frustrated but you can not get blood from a stone, if they are actually out of stock then where are they getting the bike from?:confused3 also you still have merchandise from them, so if you dispute it with your credit card company i am not sure what that will do as there was no fraud committed, just a very unfortunate mishap with your order. i would instead ask if you can somehow get the bike at a local store or if they can offer you anything for the mixup.

i had this happen with ikea this summer. i got a dresser that was repackaged (and not labeled as so) and had a damaged part. i called to report it and the store does not place items on hold, so i got there 3 days later to find it was sold out and i could not get the piece until they got their next shipment!:furious: i was furious but just had to hang on until they go the next shipment.

I'd return the train table while you still can.

And I would request a refund ASAP for the bike. Wouldn't you rather the reorder be in your hands versus Walmart's (especially under these circumstances??)?

I have had the same thing happen with Disneystore.com, Lands End.com and kohls.com. So, yes, it DOES happen all of the time. It is so freaking frustrating (how can you sell something you don't have in stock and then expect to be able to substitute whatever in it's place...even though they usually claim it was a 'mispick'). :furious:

ITA - I know that none of this mess was your fault but if you call back and start demanding they send you a bike they don't have they're going to think you're the pain and become even less helpful.

What I would do is what wovenwonder said which is first tell them you'd like them to email you a return shipping label for the preschool table. Even if you have to call ups it will be easier to have them come to your house than you schlepping it back to a Walmart.

Second - nicely ask again if they know when they might have more stock on the bike, when it might be in the warehouse, is it soldout in stores as well. I have a feeling they're going to stonewall you but at least ask.

The next step is up to you - can you get a comparable bike somewhere else? If so then just get that one and be done with it. If you have to have this bike then you may just have to keep checking online to see when it comes back in stock and possible wrap a picture of the bike for your son to open.

Lastly - make sure you're taking note of who you talk to.

Good luck!

1. You need to get a return authorization for the train and table from them - their cost of course. Then send it back. Get rid of that part of the problem. That should also result in a credit back of your $$$.

2. If you then want to be a PITA about the bike being out of stock and you not getting it when you ordered it, then do it. I would. But I'm just that way ;) But also be clear about what you expect them to do about it - like a PP said, they can't magically make something appear when they don't have stock. I suggest you pick out another bike they have available online that is similiar to the one you ordered and ask to get that one at the price you bought the other bike at. Or ask for a similiar percentage discount on another bike. Be reasonable, be polite, but be persistant and firm.

Hmmm...I would just take the high rode on this one. The amount of $$$ spent wouldn't be worth the aggravation for me. Totaly, sucks BTW.

I would return the items, ask about a possible ship date for a bike (if they think it will come in stock). If no, speak to a manager, plead your case and if you get a 'No' just drop it. Don't shop there again...that is the only power you can.

This is on the same level of getting screwed as a cancelled order (because OOS), it happens, it sucks, but legally the company isn't obligated to fulfill the order.

If service is more important to you, then shop locally, small stores. You probably won't find as good of a deal, but they will NEVER leave you hanging like this. If you would rather gamble with a big box store in order to take advantage of a great price/deal, realize that poor customer service comes with the territory. Good customer service comes with a bigger pricetag. They just have different business models.

...as I said before, sorry for the mistake, totally sucks.

How far is the nearest Walmart to your home? Take the incorrect items to your local store, along with receipt, and ask to see the store manager. Explain what happened, how thrilled you were when you made your purchase and how let down you feel due to Walmart's error. Perhaps you can get a better deal on a better bike by contacting your local store.

I understand how annoying this is, but the bike is out of stock. You can schedule a return of the train and get a refund. What else can WalMart do?

I suggest buying a decent bike at a local bike shop. You'll get a much better bike than anything sold at WalMart and will be able to get expert advice and service.

OP - you may want to keep in mind that nothing is ever written in stone when it comes to special promotions, such as Black Friday/Cyber Monday. The fine print in retailers' ads/websites clearly states such...

With that said - return the stuff Walmart sent you that you didn't request (you should be able to get an RMA from walmart.com or even take the merchandise to your local WM store to recieve a faster credit to your bank card), and move-on beyond Cyber Monday...

Can't stand Walmart. The one time I had a problem with Amazon they sent me another product immediately (it was in stock), and arranged for the pickup of the merchandise at their cost (at my home of course). This took less than 10 mins and they were extremely courteous.

But that doesn't help you! I think you may get further speaking directly with a manager in store. They may find a comparable bike for you.

I think its ridiculous you're having such a hard time with Walmart. They need to make the return of the wrong item as easy as possible. Most store will let you return online items in store. I would firmly let them know they need to make returning that item as easy as possible for me since it was their mistake.

If the bike isn't in stock, it isn't in stock. I'd be annoyed but understanding that they have to cancel my order and quickly refund the money.
