Walmart - Are the FL prices the same as NY prices?

We live in upstate NY and we shop at our super Walmart for groceries. I was wondering if the prices down in FL will be about the same as our Walmart?

This is kind of funny. Last week on the Tampa news they had a special about price differences between Tampa Walmarts. Guess it just depends which store and what pricing market they are in. Here's the link to that story.

I don't know about upstate NY but I found prices to be higher in Florida relative to Northern NJ...for groceries. I think the profit margin on groceries is a lot smaller in general and some foods are sourced regionally...therefore Walmart grocery prices are unlikely to be the same in such disparate regions. Walmart controls price by volume purchase but that method isnt going to work very well on the fresh/wet goods.

We found them to be about the same as our prices here in VA. However, this is a resort area so some stores sell Tourist Type items higher, such as soda or potato chips might be higher as they are a high demand item than in your local area. If you went and bought a 20lb bag of dog food, I bet it would be about the same, as few tourists buy dog food in that amount on vacation...

I dont know if your area does double or triple coupons (my area in NJ does), but Florida DOES NOT!

I have noticed a difference in pricing from area to area within my own state! When DS was an infant I would go to a walmart about 45 min away and stock up because it was so much less expensive than the walmart I normally went.

Wal-Mart dept managers also have the authority to meet local competitive prices, so you will see variations in all stores.

Most Wal-Marts will be priced according to the area they are in. We have 3 Wal-Marts in town. The arthritis vitamins my mom takes were on clearance because of new packaging. The Wal-Mart closest to her had them marked 50 cents/box. The Wal-Mart by me had them $1.00/box and the Wal-Mart on the other side of town had not even marked them down yet. We were buying all we could find, so at the last store I bought them all at full price and then went to Customer Service and inquired why all 3 stores had different prices. The response I got was, they price by area and by their customers. Needless to say they did give me all the vitamins at the 50 cent/box price and they adjusted the price from the 2nd store too..."I'll do it just once"! I had to laugh after... I've just been to all the Wal-Marts in town and bought everthing I could find, where did she think I was going to go next???
