They don't do this now. I've returned so many things to Walmart in the last year without a receipt (I would estimate around 50,) and have never had any kind of problem. You will only get store credit though, but otherwise you're fine. Also, as long as it's something that Walmart sells (online or in store) you can return it to the store without a reciept a get store credit for that amount.
I think some stores do since this was just taken off their site yesterday.. I will say, when you return something at my local one, they do ask for ID. That day I went to return my doggie T-Shrit, even with the rec'pt (after fighting with them), they did ask for my ID..oh and I only had bought the item less than 7 days prior. I paid for it with my Visa Card & they refused to put it back on there, they gave me cash... which that is a no-no with the credit card companies.. So my conclusion with Wal-Mart is, each territory/zone must do what it wants regardless of Corporate procedures.
On Black Friday I read that Wal-mart was going to give out tickets for the EB items, I went to the one in Orlando on John Young Parkway & they did not, yet my local one did... again, I think they do as they want on some things.

I told them to look at the rec't, that it was paid for with my CC. They still refused.. and yes, with the cash return, they did ask for my ID... Seems to me, they should have just placed it back on my CC instead of taking cash from their draw... unless they did plan on doing that to "track me"....


She called me, I found the rec'pt in the check book (thank God.. just to shove it in their face) she came home got it & went back down to them with the rec'pt. They then promptly gave her a refund.. now all this because she didn't have a rec'pt for the bread!! Bread that was under $2. If we didn't live so close, I wouldn't have had her come home to get it. We are less than a mile from there, so it wasn't a big deal & I wanted them to see.. yes, it came from your store, 3 days ago & it is moldy.. and we want a refund. So it all depends on the customer service person behind that desk. Had it been me, I would have asked for manager instead of having to go home to get the rec'pt but my DD wasn't like that.
