Silly question... but are there a number of outlets in the rooms at the GCH (regular room, no DVC villas)? Just wondering if we'll be juggling charging of phones & cameras while drying hair, etc.

Thanks!

If I recall correctly there was one outlet to the left of our bed and one to the right, over by the desk and in the bathroom. We had stuff plugged everywhere, 2 cameras, video camera, 3 cell phones :)

Perfect. Thank you so much. We'd be in the same situation with all of the equipment and hated the thought of being in a hotel room with ONE outlet, which has happened to us before. :scared1:

Thanks!

If there is a hotel room with only one outlet--I would report them to the city. They have codes that they have to comply with. There is typically at least one outlet per wall, as well as outlets in the bathroom for each hotel/motel room.

Well, it's been several years but we stayed at a Motel 6 in Sacramento, Calif. that only had one outlet. Quite possibly the worst hotel experience I have ever had. No a/c in 100+ degree weather, there was no shower head... just a pipe sticking out of the wall with hot or luke-warm water (no cold water which is what we wanted because of the heat) and that was just a couple of the "holly crapo" moments from that stay. We ended up not sleeping and checking out at 4:00am just to get into the car with a/c. Needless to say, I will never stay at another Motel 6 as long as I live. Call me a hotel snob if you must.

Seemed there were plenty of outlets in the rooms.

My daughter forgot her phone charger and they were able to charge it downstairs in the business center. They even called back up to the room when it was fully charged-nice touch! It looked like they had every available charger for every electronic device you could possibly imagine just in case you forgot something.

I was out there last month with 2 friends at DLH. My one friend brought a power strip (octopus) to make it easier for phone & camera charging, we kept it on the desk.

There seemed to be at least one on each wall and in the sink area. We brought one of those triple outlet stick things and that helpled for charging. Will probably do the same this year.

Did not know this. Very nice that they called you when it was charged. :)

I always pack a power strip in my bag (learned this from my best friend many years ago) when I'm staying in a motel. I didn't even get it out when we stayed at PP in May so I won't take it in December. I imagine the Grand has as many, if not more, outlets.

I love the cell phone story! It's those touches that make staying on property totally worth it.

There is no shortage of outlets, however a power strip will keep all the chargers and devices in one place :thumbsup2

I use a travel power strip from Monster Cable, and have had a 6 outlet version completely filled

Oh I like that better then the one I have. Can you get those at like Best Buy or something or do you have to order them?

I bought mine at Frys Electronics (a California based electronics mega store).
Amazon has them, or online from Monster Cable.

The cord is short and designed to plug into itself for compact storage. The outlets are spread out on both sides, so chargers will not block adjacent outlets.
I have seen other similar travel power strips, most likely in the Sky Mall catalog :rotfl:

That is an awesome extension cord! I may need to get one for our travel bag.

Typing from a standard GCH room as we speak. There are two wall outlets on the wall, one each side of the beds and one on the wall above the desk/table...as well as one in the bathroom.

wow... couldn't ask for a better on the spot knowledge than this. :lovestruc I love the travel outlet but just knowing there seems to be enough outlets in the room itself will work out just perfect. Thanks for letting me know exactly what you have found in the room.

Hope you have a wonderful time.

If that makes you a hotel snob, then I am right there with you! That sounds dreadful.

There are city regulations as far as number of outlets per square foot in a hotel--but in a hotel the level of the Grand, there really is no reason to worry about that. They want their guests to be comfortable, and that includes having the appropriate amount of outlets.

I have stayed at the Disney resort hotels many times, and their outlets are not only plentiful, but easy to access.
