Wall-E

We saw it last Friday at the drive-in. The Pixar movies are always different than what I think they will be based on previews.
It's amazing that each new Pixar movie is so different and unique from their previous movies.

You know how Pixar makes the animated shorts? The one they show before Wall-E really cracked me up! (It reminded me of the old Looney Toons.)

I agree, it was totally hilarious!

Definitely getting this on blu-ray when it comes out!

We just got off the Magic and they did premiere Wall-E at 12:01am Friday morning. They showed it the entire day in the Walt Disney theatre and then the next day in the Buena Vista theatre. We saw it. I personally did not care for it. My sister-in-law walked out. Maybe we didn't understand the proper message from the movie, but we found it insulting. I felt that if Al Gore was involved in making the movie, the message that we got was about us polluting the enviroment and ruining our enviroment. I don 't know, I could be wrong. But then could someone explain it.

Great movie. Why on earth would someone walk out? Were they bored due to lack of dialog or were they insulted by the fact that perhaps we all need to help take care of the planet we live on? lol...or perhaps someone resembled the way humans were represented in the movie? :rotfl:

I do not condone walking out on any type of entertainment or live or projected, but the other thing I can never condone is one person insulting the looks of another. I hope the mods see your post and remove it. I think you need some sensitvity classes or something. Also, the movie is about were the human race is going and it is a bleek subject, but this was the best Pixar movie to date.

You don't need to have it explained. That was the message. I'm not understanding why that is insulting.:confused3 Along with this message was a very sweet story that was also very funny.

I just want to make sure that everyone caught the fact that even in space, we continued to pollute the earth. Each time the little wind storm happened on Wall-E, it was the trash coming from the space cruiseship and the Wall-Es in the sky. I talked to some people whom that went right over their heads. When Wall-E got sent down to the trash, there were bigger versions of him that boxed the trash from the ship and sent it to the earth. Some did not get that. There was three really "BIG" messages and I hope people got them. This is the reason I LOVED the movie Happy Feet. There were soooo many messages in it, it has now become my favorite animation of all time. "Sorry Disney", even though we are still HUGE Disney Buffs.:goodvibes

I also noticed all the trash floating in space, and wondered why on Earth they thought the people would "get it right" this time.

And, that was the reason I didn't like "Happy Feet." I thought the message was a little heavy handed.

I have been wondering this ever since I saw the movie so maybe one of you can help.
In the very last redits on the movie they have special thanks to DCL. Does anyone know what that was about? :confused3

I'm totally guessing here, but IMHO the Axiom was based on cruise lines in general, and DCL more specifically. It was freaky to be watching that movie about people on a 700 year cruise eating all the time, and being on a cruise ship thinking about my next meal! Definitely puts things in perspective.

(Didn't stop me from fully enjoying dinner that night, though... ;) )

As long as you don't eat so much that you require an ECV to haul ya around, it shouldn't stop you! ;)

The whole thing is ironic in general...Disney creates every imaginable consumer product, controls a huge chunk of entertainment, has cruise ships...I'm surprised Pixar was allowed to hit so close to home with this one.

We had to walk out on Wall-E in the movie theatre on opening day with our 5 year old. None of the reviews I read prepared us for the aggression and destructiveness that occurs virtually non-stop for the half an hour after Eva arrives. This is compounded by the repeated images of Wall-E cowering and trembling in terror. Our little boy is very sensitive, and was extremely disturbed by this. He was trying very hard to keep it together, especially after being made to empathize with Wall-E during the first 20 mins. of the movie, but he was so upset, we had to leave. :confused3

On thing I remember from the Stock Holder meeting when Disney bought Pixar was John Lasater saying that basicly the deal called for Disney not to interfer with what the do up in Emeryville. Disney will just be taking some of there money. It was kinda funny

You mean 5, maybe 10 minutes after Eva arrives...unless you somehow saw a different version of the movie.

"very sensitive" would be a huge understatement if those few short scenes had such a profound effect that you felt the need to leave.

I just saw Wall-E, and it was the sweetest, most adorable movie I've ever seen in my life. I hope they're still showing it on DCL in August when I go; I'd love to see it again.

Yes they will still be showing it. DCL shows the last 5 movies that were ran in theaters on the ship, plus any that are opening in theaters while on the ship. So it will still be playing and I am sure it will be in abundance. Prior to our cruise, I make my kids hold out on the last THREE Disney movies for the year, because I know we will catch them on the ship. So you will be able to see it again.
